Away from it all

We needed a few days away from everything so this was perfect. Host was lovely. Property had everything we needed and we were nice and cosy. Tea/coffee, milk, cookies and towels were an unexpected bonus. Great views, but glad we got there in daylight.

Lovely people but found for the money it was uncomfortable … the bed settee was hard, no Wi-Fi so in the absence of a television it was not possible to watch anything on phones as no signal, the outside could be tidied up so not looking at an ancient greenhouse full of rubbish, paid 30 for cleaning when in fact there were cobwebs on both bedside tables and the whole place would only take less than an hour to clean thoroughly which I felt was excessive. We had to strip the bed and follow instructions as to where to put the duvet etc which I have never been asked to do before in any place ive stayed, I paid 30 for all of that … and not w left hy the cleaner not to mess up the copper work top as it takes an hour to clean was unnecessary. We had the best time in the area but this place could do more for itself in a lot of ways … lovely spot

Ad not accurate, damp smell in bedding

Good stuff: excellent location to explore beautiful Exmoor, pleasant hosts, great view, decent shower, good heating. Bad stuff: bed is actually a sofa bed, so not as comfortable, and it smelled of damp. The ad is inaccurate as it says there is a cooker, when actually it is just a microwave. The ad also has lots of photos of the gardens, and a summerhouse, but the first thing you read on arrival says these are out of bounds. The dining table is a huge drop-leaf table, but you can't raise the leaf, so you are just left with a long table which you can't get your knees under. Could do with a rethink.

Good value for money

Listing price is very reasonable. We overall enjoyed our stay. Things that can be improved include shower pressure, toilet flush buttons, cleanliness of the beddings, and the big fold table table which seems to be a bit cumbersome and maybe adding a log burner. The host is very communicative and very respectful.

A lovely little Shepherd's hut that has everything you need in the heart of somerset. Great hosts. The only negative would be that it needed a good dust and a hoover from previous occupants.
