About this property

Paddy's Place - Cosy Cottage w/ Parking & Garden

Summary:
A lovingly restored cottage located in one of Cornwall's most beautiful villages, St Agnes.

The Space:
Downstairs, the living room boasts traditional white-washed stone walls, comfy sofas and a wood-burner for cooler nights. Adjacent is the dining room with a further wood-burner and next door, a shaker-style kitchen with all the mod cons. Leading on from the kitchen, there is a glass-roofed verandah with a dining table and chairs that overlook the pretty garden. Upstairs, there are three well-sized bedrooms that sleep 5 plus a baby; a single with distant views of the sea, a double and a further twin with travel cot. All the rooms share a modern family bathroom with bath and shower. The cottage is in Goonbell on a quiet road on the edge of the village, with private parking and peaceful garden for those lovely long summer days. You're in the perfect spot for enjoying long days at Trevaunance Cove, surfing waves or just simply relaxing. Dogs are welcome with a fee of £20/dog (max 2). It is on the condition they are not allowed on the soft furnishings or upstairs.

St Agnes is a traditional Cornish fishing town full of lovely restaurants, cafes, pubs, gift shops, surf shops and more. The centre can be reached with a short and very pleasant walk over the fields toward the ocean.

The town has 2 small beaches within a 5-minute drive from the cottage. The first is directly in the town so it can get quite busy, however just round the corner is another less-known cove that tends to be quieter. From here you can continue on stunning coastal paths complete with ruins of old tin mines. Just around the headland is Porthtowan, a much larger beach with great facilities. This is a popular surfing destination and has surf schools for beginners.

Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the entire property.

The Neighborhood:
The cottage sits on a quiet and peaceful street. However, all the local amenities and attractions are still within easy walking distance, so you have the best of both worlds! The main town in St Agnes is a short walk over the fields with sea views drawing ever closer. Walk through the town and you will arrive at Trevaunance Cove - roughly half an hour from the cottage. Chapel Porth, Porthtowan and Perranporth can be reached by car with 5-10 minutes drive. All are patrolled by lifeguards from Easter to October and provide excellent surfing and swimming.

Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of Cornwall, a vehicle is recommended for getting around. There is a private parking space for one large car at the front of the property. Plus, there is extra on street parking if needed.

Just the ticket!
We had a great time. Super clean, everything we needed. Piping hot water for bath after a days walking. Very well equipped kitchen - we used oven and hob. Local shop and pub were great. What a fab community. We will be back!

The cottage has a lovely feel to it and is surprisingly spacious. We did need to use our car more thsn expected as the walk into the village would of been too much for my wife. That said, if you are more able there are some lovely places ro eat locally.

Nice cottage but not perfect
This isn't our first time visiting St Agnes. In the past, we have stayed closer to the cove, but this time we decided to stay somewhere around the edge of the village. The cottage is lovely - a decent size living room, reception area, kitchen, and bedrooms, which was perfect given the wet weather. Although the garden area was lovely, especially for the dog, it rained most of the week, so we were not able to use it. But, we were able to explore places like St Mawes and Falmouth due to its great location and easy access to the roads. However, it took over 20 minutes to walk into the village. It's worth considering if you've spent the day walking and want to walk to the cove for a drink or to nip out for pizza or fish and chips afterwards. Here are the negatives. Mattresses - Someone else mentioned them, and we agree. The beds were a little uncomfortable, and they made us feel like we were sleeping on waterbeds. Smart TV / WIFI - the place needs an ariel as the Smart TV service was very clunky and we gave up using the slow WIFI (I needed to check my work emails) and just used our mobiles instead. The biggest issue was the lack of an indoor drying rack, an iron, and a washing machine. Since it rained most days, we did not have anywhere to dry our clothes, and the stinky dog towels couldn't be washed. We eventually had to drive to M&S to buy more underwear. It must be very tricky for people in the summer when they spend their days on the beach and have loads of kids' clothes to keep clean. Baby/dog gate - If you provide one and ask people to use it, make sure you keep all the bits together. I spent an hour trying to find all the bits - the gate was under the bed, but the other bits were in the cupboard and kitchen. Sadly we won't be booking again, there are nicer properties in the area which have all the mod cons you need for a week's holiday.
