A lovely Cornish cottage with everything you could need. The general store is right in your doorstep and sells everything and the pub again very close.
We had a fantastic stay at the Laurels. It is a truly fantastic cottage with everything you could possibly need. We were made to feel very welcome and want to say a big thank you for the cream tea you left for us.
We spent a few days in this lovely house and enjoyed the beautiful countryside around. Everything was as expected or even beyond our expectations and the owner was very friendly and helpful.

The Laurels was the perfect base for our week at half term. Set in a quiet street, with outdoor space both at the front and back of the property, we really enjoyed our stay. The cottage has literally everything you could need, and is very comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped, and everything has been very well considered for a holiday home from home.
A cosy cottage with lots of character. The cottage was clean and Michelle was very accommodating to all our needs. The village is quiet with a lovely shop over the road and provided easy access to many lovely days out. Will definitely be back!

So pleased you enjoyed your stay at The Laurels look forward to you returning
Great location for exploring north Cornwall. Charming cottage. Warm, very clean and well kept. Very well equipped for self catering cooking. Close to a fantastic dog friendly beach. Good walking straight from the doorstep. Friendly local community and excellent pubs nearby for eating out.
The cottage is obviously very well looked after. It was spotless. Everything worked as expected. The facilities were well stocked. We had a lovely time.
Lovely Easter weekend spent at The Laurels.
The cottage is in a great location and very warm and cosy.
Even though the weather wasnt freezing we couldnt resist lighting the fire after a day out exploring Cornwall.
Very clean and has everything that you need.
Lovely little welcome basket with some Easter treats went down well.
Will definitely stop here again.
What a gem The Laurels is. We enjoyed a long weekend at the cottage and had everything we needed. Lovely welcome package to arrive to after a long drive and lots of information about what to visit in the area.
Beds were very comfortable and everywhere was spotlessly clean.
Would definitely visit again.
Five stars!
Lovely little cottage , handy for Porthtowan and Aggie. Be prepared to drive to eat or just use the great local cabs. OK so no WiFi or village pub but we had a great 5 days despite the weather. I'm grateful for a view of the North Cornish Coast and a clean cottage - nicely done all involved as a hassle free experience from booking to end of hols - thanks x

Thank you for your review so pleased you had a great stay with us. Unfortunately the village pub (Old School Bar and Kitchen) had to close however i believe it is being taken over and will be open soon, fingers crossed. Would be more than welcome to revisit us. Thank you
Really lovely short break. Used as a base to explore the villages and beaches. Very well equipped, beautifully clean and comfy.
Only downside was no WiFi. With teenagers and very poor signal in the cottage, WiFi would have been appreciated, even if we had to have paid for it. Other than that, perfect!

Sorry we have no WIFI however mixed feed back keeps us being a great getaway, we will consider this in the future. Glad you had a perfect stay with us alway welcome to visit again in the future
Cottage a good combination of old fashioned and modern. Wonderful enclosed garden. Sunny porch. Back yard disappointingly drab. We did miss the internet: this is 2022!

Thank you for your 5 star review and pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. We welcome constructive feedback and welcome any suggestions on how to improve our back yard for future guests. We have considered WiFi in the cottage and have a mixed response some like the getaway feeling from their busy lives but we appreciate this would also benefit others so this is under careful consideration. Thank you again and we welcome you back to the laurels in the future
Lovely terraced cottage tastefully decorated. Local pub has now closed so you need to drive. Local village shop is very handy just across the road. Around 10 min drive to St Agnes which is a really nice spot. Did miss not having Wi-Fi and the on street parking for more than one car is tricky.

Thankyou for your review great to have constructive feed back. Mount Hawke is a small village that has a regular bus service that will take you to st Agnes perranporth Truro and more local 1 mile to Porthtowan which has two restaurants on the beach and pubs fish and chips cafe gift shops and ice cream parlour with the stunning coastal path. Most guests arriving come in one car together and although parking is not designated we generally have never had any issues
We have considered WiFi however still having mixed reviews some like tthe getaway and some don’t
I am glad you enjoyed your stay and welcome you back
The hyggelig cottage with a lot of cushions and cosiness was a nice place to stay. The kitchen was very well equiped, the warm water in the shower was instant and enough for 4 people and the beds were very cosy and we could sleep very well...the only thing was the missing wifi, were we would have liked a remark in the description, that there is no wifi/internet...we read our newspapers over the internet and for planning trips etc it would have been important and for us essential...we actually wouldn t have booked if we knew there was no internet.....the signal for mobile internet was sadly too weak for research etc, so that we had a bit of a problem there....
Otherwise a very great place to stay...thank you very much...

About the host
Hosted by Michelle Murphy and Mark Murphy
We are a family of 7 and love walking endlessly along the beaches and coastal paths which are plentiful and easy finds. The North coastal trail is a favorite walk of ours. The nearest beach is Porthtowan and at low tide is one and a half miled of soft golden sand. The Blue Bar sits on the beach as does the Unicorn and is appreciated after a summers day on the beach or a winters walk across the coastal paths. Truro itself houses a beautiful cathedral heaped in history and is stunningly lit in the evening which is one of our idyllic places to eat in the evening. We love the wateringhole at Perranporth and enjoy taking our dog for a lovely walk and ending up back in the bar for a hot chocolate on chillier days and something to eat. St Agnes Portreath and Chapelporth are sandy coves and tipped with history of the fishing and mining life. You can grab an icecream on those summer days or sit by the logburners on a winters evening, loving every moment whatever the season.
Why they chose this property
The Laurels is a quaint country cottage, near some of the most amazing beaches in the UK, they are plentiful with miles of sand. It is so centrally located for all the beaches being right in the heart of cornwall you can go South, North or East and pretty much get anywhere in 15 minutes (cornish time so the locals say). Beaches are dog friendly too as well as the pubs and restaurants. Plenty to do for the children from Newquay Zoo to the Cornish Farms. Three local stables with riding on the beach. Truro leisure centre is 7 miles away. Truro town centre is 7 miles all accessible by car or bus which stops almost directly outside the cottage. The Laurels is warm and homely, clean and tidy. The back court yard is small and a slight extension of the kitchen for a barbeque night in. Or the front garden, enclosed and safe for children and pets. The kitchen is modern, clean and well equipped.
What makes this property unique
Beyond the front gate signed The Laurels, opens up into the front garden where you will find the chocolate box cottage that is heaped in character from the thick cornish walls to the original cornish range. Cosy nights in infront of the log burner after a meal at one of the local Restaurants that are heaped in history, or take a seat at the blue bar overlooking the sea at Porthtowan our go to beach providing excellent food and hospitality.
