About this property
4 Capt Uptons Cottages. Central but secluded. Fast Wifi. Top floor sea views.
Picturesque fisherman's cottage, over three floors with some beautiful harbour views from the top floor 'look out'. This historic dwelling has been totally re-furbished with high-end interiors and hi-speed wi-fi. Situated in a 'secret' secluded courtyard, with private, secure back garden, the property is as follows;
Ground: One double bedroom with King Size bed and double aspect over courtyard and back garden, plus small twin-bedded room with rear window, both with mirrored wardrobes.
First: Renovated, modern, bright, triple aspect kitchen, with access to private garden. Granite worktops, electric range cooker, dishwasher, microwave, and under-counter fridge and freezer. Dining area for six with wall mounted Smart TV.
Family bathroom/WC, plus very small additional shower room and second WC.
Second Floor: Spacious, luxurious, triple aspect lounge with five windows, making it light and airy. High quality furnishings with Samsung Smart Curved TV and Bose 'surround-sound' system. Remote-Control electric blinds. Third bedroom with double bed, built-in wardrobe and vanity unit. "Look-out" off landing, affording a great view of harbour .
Cobbled area to front of cottage has bench seating, and the rear private garden (access via kitchen, or through tunnel from front of property) has dining table for six and BBQ.
Some original features, including panelled walls, beams and door, have been retained in the property.
The owners are happy to welcome well-behaved, house-trained dogs.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Captain Upton's Cottages - named after the Mayor of Falmouth in 1708 - have been described by Falmouth Civic Society as "a vital link with Falmouth's first era of prosperity". They are the only remaining example of a host of houses and cottages which once crowded the waterfront. With the exception of Arwenack House, they are arguably the oldest residential buildings in the town".

Why they chose this property
Captain Upton's Cottages are just a few steps away from all that Falmouth has to offer. At the top of Upton Slip is the main shopping street, with many main stream high street stores, as well as local independent craft shops. A great selection of restaurants and bars are also within easy walking distance. Church Street Car Park, on the harbourside is literally 10 paces from our front gate, at the bottom of the slip! . If you wish to keep the car there, the cost is currently circa £8 per day.
What makes this property unique
The cottage is one of two 17th Century buildings which are noted as the oldest residential properties (with the exception of Arnewack House) in Falmouth. The "Lookout" on the top floor, gives a spectacular view over the harbour.
