Lovely place in a great spot.

A beautiful and interesting cottage situated in the centre of the village, it’s no more than a couple of minutes walk anywhere. Everything you need is provided, it’s light and airy, clean and well maintained and with great views. This was our second visit and we’ve already booked for next year so, I guess, that says a lot! There’s nothing not to like.

Beautiful Cottage in Great Location

We spent a wonderful few days at this lovely cottage. The house is cosy but there was lots of space for our family of four and two dogs. The house is beautifully decorated as well as being really well equipped. We loved sitting in the sun room and the window seats watching the world go by and looking out to sea. The location is perfect as it’s only a few minutes walk from the centre of the town and all the restaurants and shops.

A relaxing break in a beautiful cottage

The cottage was a haven of peace and quiet in a very hot week. Teenagers enjoyed fishing and boating and close proximity to town. Everything was beautifully clean and comfortable. Communication with Tamsin was regular and reassuring.

Fabulous cottage, incredible views

We had a wonderful time staying here. The views were second to none, from morning sunrises to seeing the twinkling harbour at night. All rooms have a wonderful view, the photos don't do it justice. Shops and restaurants and harbourside all within a few mins walk. The property itself is extremely well furnished with all the kitchen utensils you will ever need. Kids loved going mackerel fishing with Aquila and visiting local beaches. Teacup tearoom was also a wonderful experience. Thoroughly recommend.

Lovely Mevagissey visit

Prospect Cottage is a real gem - just as listed. The cottage is the perfect size for 4-6 people, is beautifully decorated and well appointed. The views over Mevagissey are stunning. Tamsin was a great host, responding quickly and politely to all our questions. The Mevagissey area has plenty to offer for a multi-day visit. We stayed for four days and had no trouble filling out time with great outings. On the contrary, we didn't have time to see all we wanted. The Salt Path hiking to both the north and south is terrific. Black Head, Dodman Point and Hemmick Beach were highlights.

Wonderful walking

This property is in an excellent position in Mevagissey with wonderful views over the rooftops to the harbour & sea beyond from all the rooms. Very comfortable with everything you need. Finding the property & unloading right outside was so easy but the parking space provided was an absolute concern daily.....trying to avoid damage to tyres on the raised base of the barrier posts in a very tight area was not easy & we only had a small car. Provision of a parking permit in the main carpark would really be a godsend for guests. THE HOUSE IS SUPERB SO JUST MAKE OTHER PARKING PLANS!

Amazing

I cannot rate this property highly enough. The cottage is stunning with amazing views- the online pictures do not do it justice. It is fully equipped with anything you need for a holiday stay. Location is fantastic, 2 mins walk into Mevagissey and the harbour. We stayed in February so thankfully it was not too busy and we could easily eat and drink at the local pubs without having to book, our favourite was The Fountain which is small but very friendly and the food was good and reasonably priced. The walk over to Pentewan is great, not too far and coffee/cake available at the end. Tamsin was a great host and sent immediate replies to any queries I had. If you are considering booking this cottage press the button now, you will not regret it!

Fantastic location

We had a lovely 2 week stay. Convenient location to access Megavissey Village and harbour and for day trips throughout Cornwall. The cottage is over 3 floors and the stairs are steep. We used the walk in shower on the lower level and the bedroom opposite as a dressing room. Meant we did not have to lug our luggage ( visiting from Australia) up more stairs. There are steps leading from the back gate of the cottage to the village and all up a few minutes to be at the local stores and pub for supplies etc. We parked our rental SUV in the large carpark and it is a very short walk to the path/steps leading to the rear access. The roads in the village leading to the cottage are very narrow and as we were not used to driving them we did not. Easy peasy for those who are used to negotiating narrow lanes.

One of our very best stays!!

My wife and I are very experienced self catering renters and have a good basis for comparisons and we can, and have to one another, state that this is one of our top three stays, in terms of quality of the property, location, service, cleanliness and all other aspects of using a vacation rental. Our only regret is that with our present 16 day visit to the U.K. (yes, we are Americans) that we didn't spend more of it in this property in Mevagissey. My wife would have been very happy to have spent the entire visit there, but it is a bit of drive from there to Heathrow for a noon departure back to the U.S. We will certainly be booking again. On another note, every single townspeople we met did not treat as merely a tourist and a possible source of revenue, but opened right up and spoke of their lives in Cornwall, good and bad and treated us as if we were known acquaintances. Five stars to Tamsin and her family and thanks for sending the caretaker over to help us sort out the operation of the heater (I was trying to overthink it!). My sole cautionary note is that for elderly folks who want to get out and walk, virtually any walking not directly on the harbor is a bit of up and down hills - on the other hand, in most cases, it's good for us! See you again!

Beautiful character home in a great location

Perfect, relaxing holiday in a beautiful period character house in the centre is f a lovely fishing village, plenty going on even out of season. The building has been painstakingly renovated and thoughtfully and tastefully equipped. It is a second home NOT a formulaic, commercialised basic holiday rental - you feel you are staying in the family home of someone you know,. The friendly and helpful caretakers, Lorraine and her partner, are next door to help if needed. No problems in the house for us, but some might find the stairs are quite steep with narrow treads and no rail. The road is quiet and it is easy to park on the double yellow line outside for loading. The allocated parking round the corner is tight up alongside a low concrete wall in a very narrow access lane in a short space. It is very difficult to access; if you have a larger car or are worried about potential damage there are convenient car parks for £6 per 24 hours. Best to walk round to the allocated space and assess it and unlock lock the posts first. You will need to approach the lane by driving up the road into it, not down. You will need someone to guide you in. Don’t let this put you off, we didn’t use the car, it is a great place to stay.

What an awesome place! It was much larger than we thought split over 3 levels. Middle one has the front room and kitchen, downstairs twin room plus sun room and bathroom. Top floor twin room and king bed plus shower/bath and separate toilet. Beds were extremely comfy too. So close to all the amenities.

I used to come to Meva as a child and have the best memories of watching the fishermen bring in their catch, eating fish and chips on the harbour and exploring the rocks and beaches nearby. I wanted my three young children to experience Cornish holidays the way I did. We found Prospect Cottage in 2016 and it had been empty and unloved for a few years - it was not in good shape! A lot of hard work has gone in to bringing it back to it's best. It's a beautiful house in a very special place and I hope you love it as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

Central location a few steps from all Mevagissey has to offer with sea views from most rooms. Walk to the Lost Gardens of Heligan, beutiful Pentewan beach or take the ferry to Fowey. A short drive will take you to the Eden project, Charlestown and many beaches to explore
