About this property
Large independent studio. Superb peaceful setting, stunning views.
The studio has lovely south-facing views over a courtyard towards the hillsides opposite. At the end of a no-through lane, it is in a peaceful hamlet setting. The owners, are on hand in the old farmhouse and are happy to advise and assist if required.
Whilst the studio is entirely independent with its own sitting out area, guests are also welcome to use the gardens and grounds (2 hectares). The view is panoramic and has inspired photographers and artists alike as the light and colours change throughout the day and seasons.
The studio comprises a small entrance, a shower-room (large shower, vanity unit, WC, heated towel rail). The large main room (40m²) has a fitted kitchen area with garden door, living/dining area. The bedroom area has a king-size bed (180cm which can be separated to make two single beds, if preferred).
For cooler evenings, there is a wood-pellet burning stove, simple to operate.
This is a perfect spot for doing absolutely nothing, on a chaise longue with a book and a pair of binoculars to admire the remarkable birdlife. There are woodland walks on the doorstep if a little activity is called for.
For sight-seeing purposes, it is strategically located in the centre of the Dordogne. Motorway access at 15 minutes makes Bordeaux centre reachable in about 1h15.
Périgueux, the county town is a 20 minute run and full of interest with its roman ruins (arena, villa-museum) and superbly renovated renaissance quarter. The celebrated mime festival (“Mimos”) takes place annually early July in Périgueux. In villages and towns around Périgueux, The New Orleans Jazz festival (“MNOP”) takes place in July, in co-production with the Douchapt Blues Festival over July and August, many with free access. You can also enjoy the (free) jazz/blues/swing concerts held in the various squares in the old town of Périgueux (“Macadam Jazz”).
The 3-day “Bandas” festival in St Astier (July) is worth a mention as thousands flock to hear a number of brass bands as they parade and play in the streets.
Bergerac airport is 30 minutes away. Brantôme, Les Eyzies and Le Bugue are 35 minutes away, Sarlat 1hr.
