About this property

Woodcock Lodge - Luxurious log cabin in Argyll

Nestled near Lochgilphead, Woodcock Lodge is a luxurious, Scandi-style retreat designed to offer couples complete privacy and comfort amid one of Scotland’s most peaceful and unspoilt glens. Although its sister lodge, Wildcat, sits 100 yards away, Woodcock remains entirely secluded.

Guests can enjoy an atmospheric barbecue in the year-round BBQ hut or unwind in the private hot tub beneath a canopy of stars, with the patio softly lit by fairy lights. Inside, the lodge combines rustic warmth with modern comforts: a cosy log burner, a wide-screen smart TV with Netflix, and large windows that frame the surrounding wilderness. The fully equipped kitchen makes self-catering effortless, while the inviting bedroom, dressed with luxurious linens and robes, promises restful, indulgent sleep.

Woodcock Lodge is proudly dog-friendly, welcoming pets and offering plenty of space to explore and exercise. Designed primarily for couples seeking tranquility and comfort, it also happily accommodates babes in arms. A Type 2 EV charger is installed on site.

Woodcock Lodge offers a luxurious, Scandi-inspired retreat in the tranquillity of Kilmichael Glen—perfect for couples and their dogs. Though only 100 yards from its sister lodge, Wildcat, it remains completely private. Inside, the warm, wood-lined interior includes a log burner and smart TV, cosy bedroom with luxury linens and robes, and fully fitted kitchen. Outside, a fairy-lit patio, private hot tub, and year-round BBQ hut create a magical setting for slow days and starlit evenings. Dogs are pampered with their own bed, towel, bowl, and treats, and our friendly resident donkeys, Sam and Rodney, always enjoy meeting guests.

The surrounding area is rich in history and natural beauty. Kilmichael Glen is known for its standing stones, ancient carvings, and atmospheric woodland trails that reveal layers of Scotland’s past. Walks here feel peaceful and immersive, with quiet paths ideal for exploring with a dog. Close by Lochgilphead offers local shops, and those who enjoy barbeques can obtain venison from the neighbouring estate. Excellent restaurants are located nearby, and a cosy pub awaits 10 minutes’ drive away. A Type 2 EV charger is available onsite.

Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy. The Crinan Canal provides a gentle route for walking or cycling beside drifting boats and scenic waterways. Nearby, you can fish our private one-mile beat on the River Add for salmon and trout, or explore the surrounding lochs. Knapdale Forest offers wildlife-rich trails to spot beavers and red squirrels, while the nearby Sound of Jura boasts spectacular coastal views, quiet beaches, and marine wildlife.

With its blend of serenity, luxury, and access to remarkable landscapes, Woodcock Lodge offers an unforgettable base for couples seeking relaxation and adventure. For guests celebrating a special occasion, cakes, flowers and decorations can be arranged in advance of the stay to ensure a perfect welcome.
