Situated just 70 yards from the River Derwent and only a 2-minute walk from Matlock town centre, Peak Dale Apartment is an ideal location for those who love the outdoors and seek adventure and discovery by exploring the delights of Derbyshire and the Peak District National Park with its many National Trust sights to visit.
Matlock is the county town of Derbyshire and a former spa town situated at a sharp bend in the River Derwent. The town is located on the edge of the Peak District National Park and is surrounded by spectacular hills and limestone cliffs. Today these cliffs attract rock climbers and the magnificent riverside setting in a steep wooded gorge, attracts walkers and canoeists.
The Matlock Valley is honeycombed with both caves and old lead mine workings, some of which are thought to date back to Roman times. The town is home to the Peak District Lead Mining Museum where you can take a tour of Temple Mine. This area witnessed the birth of the Industrial Revolution and visitors can still tour Arkwright’s water-powered cotton mill and Masson Mill.
Today the area still welcomes many tourists to attractions such as Gulliver’s Kingdom theme park, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House. Matlock outdoor market is held on each Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. A farmer’s market is also held on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Many events and festivals are held in the town throughout the year, including a Victorian Christmas weekend on the first week of December.
Just 1.6miles downriver of the main town lies the picturesque spa town of Matlock Bath, which contains the main tourist attractions of the locality including the Heights of Abraham with cable car and breath-taking views of the Derwent valley and surrounding dales. There are also two large show caverns in the Heights, which can also be visited.
Peak Dale apartment is therefore the ideal base for couples or single travellers - a fantastically furnished property right in the centre of many activities and walks.

Good location for visiting the area by bus and train
Good location for visiting the area by bus and train. Bus stop outside, trains near by. Everything handy, supermarkets, shops, eateries, nice park. Compact first floor flat [no lift], well appointed and had everything we needed. Above shops on busy road, but at back of building facing the park, so quiet. We enjoyed visiting old mills at Belper and Cromford, trams at Crich, Heights of Abraham by cable car, steam train at a weekend event, Haddon Hall and Bakewell.

We had a great weekend meeting with friends for a special event in Darley Dale
very central for town and restaurants
just thought the bed was a bit "squeezed" in! no tea, coffeemilk... out of date biscuits!

the bed was too soft for my liking, the internet didn't work even after reporting the problem on arrival, I felt the external photograph of the property was misleading as the building shown was not the actual property.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Good location
Newly decorated apartment. But very small, no room around bed. Hot water ran out every morning after 1 shower. Also there is NO parking permit.

Peak Dale flat in Matlock
The flat worked out perfectly for me it was so handy. It was clean and had tea and coffee and sugar provided, which was much appreciated. Instructions for the flat were clearly written so it was a very pleasant visit and I intend to return in the summer.
Having stayed there for two weeks, extra toilet roll and trash bags for my extended stay would have been nice.
One of several properties in the road with a big blue door! Apartment was compact and bijoux but super clean and well appointed. Nicely decorated and comfortable.
Washing up is done by previous tennants which did mean couple of glasses and cutlery not super clean. Parking Pass for Derbyshire referred to in the Welcome pack but not available on this occaision (in pre-trip information it does suggest buying this parking permit but the link to it was no longer live.) Also, happy to strip bedding but no laundry bag left for me to put it into as suggested in the Welcome pack.
There were plenty of restaurants locally and indeed in the same road. Parking in NCP Carpark was super close (2 mins walk) and between 6pm and 8am was only £1 then approx £1.50 per hour during day.
We really liked the apartment and it made a good base for exploring Matlock and Chatsworth House. (30 mins drive away). Would come back again and happily recommend to friends and family.
Small but good apartmement, in central Matlock. The “remarkable Hare “pub does excellent meals that are so large, just order one meal and 2 plates. The beers are good too.
The bud across the road, does wonderful breakfasts and snacks, with a great Magician on Thursday evenings!
Whats not to like with great walks and historic towns, Castles, Halls and history near by. Well pleased.

peaceful and relaxing.
Clean and modern kitchen. Although it’s on the street, you can’t hear any of the noise from cars. Lovely stay. Very close to walks and bus station to go to Bakewell.
nothing
Was a lovely flat in a great location and it was a very tidy property, the only issue we had was the shower was lukewarm at best. Other than that it was lovely!
Really enjoyed our stay in the beautiful apartment. Everything was thoughtful and perfect for our needs! Only downside was our shower water being luke warm. Would really recommend though!
