About this property
Secluded Yurt, Retreat on a Forest Farm
ENJOY PEACEFULNESS lounging inside or sprawl out on the deck, which offers a great view of the farm's orchards, gardens, sheep, and chickens, and incredible sunsets. The deck is also convenient for activities like grilling, reading, yoga, or enjoying local wine, among other things. The deck is accessed by climbing 3 stairs.
Inside, there is a very comfortable, all-natural QUEEN BED mattress in the loft with a window to the sky. As pictured, the loft is accessed by climbing a ladder. The loft is not suitable for children - there is no railing. On the main floor, there is a convertible QUEEN FUTON. We are happy to make this bed for guests who prefer not to climb the ladder; however, please consider if this is the best rental for you if that's the case.
There's a FULL BATHROOM, a full KITCHEN, and a WALK-IN CLOSET. Organic LINENS, one set of TOWELS and PILLOWS ARE PROVIDED for all guests.
The KITCHEN has a small oven, stove, full-size fridge and freezer, toaster oven, pots, pans, dishes, cups, oil, vinegar, basic spices, a French press (with instructions), and organic coffee and sugar ready for your use. Aligned with our farm's mission, and to avoid adding unnecessary waste to the waste stream, we provide ample dish towels and a Brita filter. We do not provide paper towels and request that you avoid bringing bottled water if possible.
There is GAS GRILL and outdoor furniture for summer cookouts on the deck.
There's a small FIRE PIT available to yurt guests among the trees next to the deck. WOOD IS PROVIDED.
Heating/Cooling: The beauty and the challenge of the yurt is its simplicity and tent-like structure. There is a wood stove available in cooler months (guests in May and October should expect to use this to be most comfortable), two space heaters, a ceiling fan, and oscillating fans. THERE IS NO A/C, as such; if it is humid outside, it's humid inside. Luckily, summers in the Finger Lakes tend to be mild, and nights usually cool down.
The yurt is a special retreat in nature and nestled in the woods at Wellspring Forest Farm. This small diversified operation produces mushrooms, maple syrup, elderberry extract, and grazing sheep and chickens. There are electric fences around farm animals.
There is .6 mile marked Trail just behind the yurt you are welcome to walk at your leisure. We maintain and mow this trail regularly, although in very wet seasons, maintenance may not be possible. For the privacy of our neighbors, we ask that you do not walk elsewhere on the farm unless arranging a tour.
We are located just 12 miles from ITHACA, 12 miles from WATKINS GLEN, and 8 miles TRUMANSBURG, NY, a perfect jumping-off point for the wine, beer or cheese trails, waterfall hikes, restaurant outings, graduation weekend events, the Ithaca Farmers Market and more! Cell phone service can be spotty depending on your provider. Generally texting works, and the yurt has high-speed internet.
We've left a helpful guide to the region for you to peruse during your stay including restaurant info, hikes, swimming spots and more! We can also send you this info once you book if you'd prefer.
Please note: * We DO NOT ALLOW PARTIES and A MAXIMUM of 4 people and 2 cars total may stay at the yurt.
*Dogs may be considered for an extra cleaning fee and deposit.
*We CLEAN with only, non-toxic, all-natural cleaning supplies between each guest and sanitize door handles. We use Seventh Generation laundry detergent and dryer sheets. If "clean" for you means bleach, chemicals, Tide, Bounty, or other strong scents, this is not the right stay for you.

The WiFi is high speed as indicated in the listing. But cell service is spotty in this area, that is correct.
If you had WiFi issues, we’re sorry you didn’t notify us. We would have been glad to troubleshoot it for you.
We enjoyed our stay in the yurt. It had everything we needed. The location was great...secluded yet close enough to Watkins Glen and other falls/hiking areas.
This property was exactly as advertised and exactly what I was looking for. Very quiet, very peaceful, and it had all the amenities I needed. Liza was very responsive to my questions, and the loft bed was extremely comfortable! Enjoyed my stay and would definitely book this property again.
Cozy secluded place to stay that is about 20 mins away from Watkins Glen, Ithaca and more. We really enjoyed our stay!

Unique and secluded/quiet, but very comfortable and well-appointed. We enjoyed the yurt, fire pit, walking trail, and visits from the friendly dog. Already plotting a return.
We were there for a half marathon in Montour Falls. We enjoyed hiking at Watkins Glen State Park as well as walking and eating in town. We both love nature and forest. The yurt was delightful and felt like cabins we stayed in as children. Thank You for a peaceful stay.
It was a magical experience. Amazing setting! Such a cozy spot to relax and unwind! Provided great amenities such as coffee and tea for guests! Def woyld go back! Highly recommend for a magical experience!

Loved staying in the yurt! What a neat getaway… we enjoyed sleeping in the loft bed and the quietness and beauty all around us. Great communication with the host and great amenities!
It was a neat rustic experience. Right in the woods! Water pressure was a little low, but we still give it a 5 out of 5 for a place to escape!

We're part-time farmers/homesteaders. We love our land and this region of abundance and beauty and fun. We spend time hiking, cross country skiing, swimming, working hard and more. We lived in the yurt for 4 years and are excited to have remodeled it to be as comfortable and cozy for visitors as possible. Along with our farm animals, we have two friendly dogs on the property.
Why they chose this property
We love the sunsets, summer breezes, easy access to lots of hiking, Watkins Glen, Trumansburg and Ithaca, and having friends not too far away.
What makes this property unique
We are far from the road, making this place really quiet, safe, secluded and perfect for stargazing.
