Farmhouse Gem with Gardens, Waterfalls and Orchards
The Farmhouse is an adorable gem! Low key, laid back and well-appointed, this is the perfect place to return to after visiting wineries and trekking through gorges. Sleeps up to 6 people comfortably with plenty of room to eat, relax and play! This property features an orchard and beautiful gardens plus you can walk through the adjacent nature preserve to waterfalls!!! This is a super sweet home that I've put a lot of love into--it was built in the late 1800's (the first on this hill) and before my parents purchased the land in the 1970s a family of fiddle-playin' potato farmers lived here. My sister and I grew up on this land riding horses and climbing through the gorge out back. Now I'm happy to offer it as a home-away-from home to you!! There's plenty of room in the kitchen for folks to work together to make meals or drink wine at the island counter and let your darling chef make it all happen. There are games and art supplies in the dining room cabinet and room to lounge in the living room. The east bedroom has a queen sized bed, the west bedroom has a full size bed. There's a home office area in the west bedroom too--a large desk and comfortable office chair. With fast and reliable wireless internet the Farmhouse Gem makes an excellent work-at-vacation-home location. The living room sofa opens up plus the futon chair converts to a twin bed. The laundry room is a sweet perk so you can get clean after hanging out at Treman State Park or playing in the Anarchy Zone at the Ithaca Children's Garden. And speaking of getting clean--the bathroom has a tub and shower. The Farmhouse is completely yours to enjoy! There's also a private front and back patio. My family home at two other vacation rentals (a yurt and a octagonal tiny home) are also on this property but you'll have to come up the driveway to be in these shared spaces. You're very welcome to walk through the wildflower field (you'll see the octagon) to get to the nature preserve and waterfalls. The Farmhouse is deeply cleaned and thoroughly sanitized 24 hours before check in. During the Covid-19 pandemic the garden and hen house are off-limits but there's plenty of room to enjoy the wildflower field and nature preserve while maintaining distancing requirements.

A wonderful stay at the farmhouse for our son’s college graduation family trip. Plenty of room for us five, kitchen has everything you need including and just a beautiful location! The drive to and from Ithaca was easy and quick, and communication with the host was excellent! Thank you for a great stay!
The host was very nice. Their house is right next to the farmhouse but still felt very private. We locked ourselves out of the house and the host's son ran over quickly with their spare key. We didn't have to wait at all to get back in. Also, loved getting fresh eggs and picking ripe pears every morning.
The property was a great home away from home for our family. We loved the central location and easy access to surrounding attractions. Property was clean and had a great style. Our three year old loved the chickens, swing set and nature that surrounded us. Would love to come back for another stay if we return to Ithaca.
This cute 2 bedroom cottage is set on a pet-friendly property that includes a sweet wildflower meadow adjoining a natural preserve leading down to a gorge. It's a peaceful spot just south of Ithaca and close to Treman and Buttermilk Falls state parks.
We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area. The farmhouse had everything we needed to be comfortable. Loved that the property was on a nature preserve we could walk to with the dog! Michelle was a great communicator.
We are very pleased with our rental during our stay. The property was as expected, if not better than we expected. Our dogs were very comfortable, as were we. The property itself is beautiful and was fun to explore. We would definitely stay again, or consider staying at another one of the host’s properties.
The place is cozy and clean and a perfect garden hideaway. The host went above and beyond to help solve an issue I had so that my company could reimburse me for the stay, as I was traveling for work. If you have the chance to stay here, do it! You will have a lovely time!

What a charming and unique cottage! It is an old farmhouse with a lot of charm. Michelle was an attentive host, too. I did not realize that there were 2 other units where other family or friends could stay. We loved it!
We had a really nice time staying at the farmhouse gem. It was a great place for our family. Our son enjoyed feeding the chickens and exploring the property. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet. This was a great place for us to unplug and reconnect. My only regret is we didn’t hike down to see the waterfall! Hopefully next time!
We had a lovely stay in the cottage. The wood burning stove and open layout created a cozy atmosphere for reading and relaxing. The rolling hills and wooded terrain were beautiful to behold. A short drive to Ithaca, we found lots of great food and culture. If you like to cook head to Wegman's Grocery. The well equipped kitchen made it easy to make a nice meal. we will be back!
My brother, niece and I had a wonderful, relaxing get-away, after not seeing each other for a long time. Perfect place to talk, cook breakfasts and dinners, play board games and hang out. We went for hikes and visited waterfalls. The cottage is out of town but very easy to get to, the perfect combination of secluded and convenient. It's not a large place but feels very spacious. Michelle is a great host!
The farmhouse is in a great location. Short drive to Downtown Ithaca, with Buttermilk and Treman State Parks right around the corner. The farmhouse is clean and comfortable, with a pellet stove that kept the entire house cozy (even when the snow arrived!). Michelle is a wonderful host! She is friendly, available when needed, and gave us some excellent activity recs. We appreciated that everything was eco-friendly, from the natural soaps and lotions to the compost at the top of the property. We would highly recommend renting here!

Michelle is welcoming and quick to respond. No issues or concerns. Was close enough to enjoy Our daughter's family weekend at Cornell and local shopping/restaurants. Farm land was walkable and we could imagine how beautiful it is when the wildflowers would be blooming. We were also able to take some great senior high school pictures for my son.

Farmhouse Gem needs a refresh
No information was received indicating how to access the property, no address visible from the street, not clear where to park, no air conditioning (it was very hot when we arrived), house had a musty smell.

I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience Pam. I sent you check in instructions and called you right back when you said you couldn't get it, though it was unlocked as explained in the confirmation email and check in instructions. There is an air conditioner in the living room and I installed one in the master bedroom hoping to make you more comfortable. You stayed for a few minutes and then booked a hotel despite my efforts to make you more comfortable. I hope you had a great stay elsewhere and I'm sorry my place didn't work for you.
Overall, very clean, comfortable property. Remote, which we liked. Up a steep hill to get to the property, my wife had trouble walking to and from the car, we’re in our 70s so it may not be an issue for everyone. Cable TV and internet was nice, a lot of rentals do not provide cable tv. Only one criticism is that we always bring condiments, paper towels and toilet paper because the typical VRBO provides these items but these items tend to be low quality, this was no exception, and dishes and cooking pots and pans tend to be leftovers mismatches which, while very functional, gives the feel of a camping trip. Solid place to stay and we enjoyed our time there. I would choose to stay again, my wife would not as it was a little too rustic for her. Very solid choice as a place to stay.

Hi Leo,
I'm sorry your wife had trouble getting to the farmhouse entrance. The main parking area is right across the driveway so it's a level walk. Secondary parking in front of the garage, is a good option when guests have more than 2 cars so they're unable to park a third car in the usual main parking spots.
Best wishes,
Michelle
The cottage was horrible! The property was old, rundown and overgrown. The cottage was dark, dingy and dirty. Bathroom was disgusting and very dirty. The floors in the entire were very uneven - you felt like you were drunk walking across them. As Farr as chicken eggs we were told a raccoons ate the chickens. We booked for 3 nights but only stayed one night. Do not stay here!

I'm so sorry you didn't like it here. We'll have baby chicks in the spring but for winter 2024/25 there are only 2 hens left so eggs are rare for now. The farmhouse is almost 150 years old so yes the floors slope a bit but it feels a touch melodramatic to say you felt drunk while walking across them. I love this place, it's my childhood home and keeping it super clean and lovely is something I take seriously and even enjoy doing!
My husband and dog stayed here over a long weekend. The quaint farmhouse surrounded by beautiful flowers is charming and extremely clean. It was geographically located near Ithaca and many of the popular hikes and waterfalls in the area (30 minutes or less). The kitchen had everything we needed to make basic meals. Special care had been taken to ensure we enjoyed our stay including a new bag of whole bean coffee and a french press from the hostess and fresh sunflowers on the table. Despite being just steps from the host's home and other rental homes, it was situated privately. All ammenities noted were present including a standalone air conditioner in the living room, washer and dryer, desk and high speed internet. It was absolutely amazing and a dream to be able to travel with our dog. While special care had been taken, we found the beds and furniture on the uncomfortable side, however, I accept that may be more due to a personal preference. Overall, we would stay again!
