Though brief we were close to many areas of Barcelona that made this a great location. You walk out the door and already in the small streets of the Gothic quarter which made it easy to try lots of the great food places. Place had everything we needed to rest and recoup from exploring the city.
Location was perfect. Only challenge really were the steps. I understand it is an old building so if I were to go again I would pack a lighter/smaller bag.
The people who checked us in did help with our bags tho.
Thanks!! Was great.

Great place! All amenities listed were present and high quality. Only two complaints: a slight damp smell was present from the moment we walked in, and we were never given access to the terrace that was promised.

Dear Teresa,
Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We're delighted that you enjoyed your time here. We understand your concern about the odor from the pipes. Being located in the heart of downtown in a building from the 18th century means that occasionally, depending on various factors such as weather conditions, there might be a slight smell in the neighborhood. We do take measures to address this by providing plugs, as we informed you upon your arrival, which help mitigate any odors.
We appreciate your understanding and hope that despite this minor inconvenience, you had a pleasant stay overall. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any further concerns or if there's anything else we can assist you with.
Best regards,
Wonderful apartment/ steep difficult stairs to climb
We had a wonderful stay at this apartment. The furnishings/decor were beautiful. Because 2 of us are in our 60’s, climbing the stairs with baggage was difficult. The location of the apartment was fantastic, in the center of Gothic Quarter, near so many activities, cafes, restaurants, beach, Picasso museum. Unfortunately the tub was extremely slippery (no bath mat or rail) and my friend slipped and broke her foot.

Beautiful apartment incredibly close to great bars and restaurants, gorgeous architecture, and public transit. The 4th floor apartment requires walking up 6 flights of steep stairs (yes, I said six -- I counted every time I went up), which is hard if you're not in shape. So if you have a hard time with stairs, this might not be for you. Otherwise, it's lovely, surprisingly spacious, and perfectly located.
Fantastic apartment in amazing neighborhood, but it is a lot of stairs.
El Borne is a fantastic up and coming neighborhood with lots of great food and easy walk to Las Ramblas and Bari Gotic. Be forewarned that in Europe the first floor is the floor above the ground floor, and in this building the ground floor is one flight of stairs up, so you have to walk up flights flights of a very narrow staircase to reach the apartment. So lots of fun in the neighborhood and lots of excercise as well!

They charged 35 euros for late check in, arrived 11:45 pm, means after 4 pm as it was advertised , I paid cash. I have the picture
The stairs are too tiny, I filled out a form to pay tourism taxes (30 euros) and they never got the form,
great location, lots of space to settle in (THAT CLOSET. LOVE.) and very responsive host.
it's a bit of a climb up the stairs, but that made it feel safer and meant there was no noise pollution at all (except for a cat we heard softly mewing through the bathroom vent. it was only in the morning though and it was nice because i missed my kitties while away.)
the washer was also a HUGE plus since my partner and i were traveling for 2.5 weeks from nyc. the drying rack in the closet was perfect for putting out our laundered clothes, and we left the fan on them while out and about to speed the drying process. worked perfectly!
majorly recommend this apartment.

Not for the weak
Apartment was fine once you got in. The doors were different open both the unit door and outside door didn’t always open. Very frustrating. The stairs were very narrow and there were about 70 of them.
This was up five flights of very narrow stairs so if you have anything more than a backpack, you’re in for a treat trying to get your luggage up there! The location was fabulous, but that was the only thing fabulous about this unit. The entire time it smelled of smoke with overwriting air freshener, trying to hide the smoke smell. You could not open anything because the windows in the bathroom and in the main part of the house led right to a smoky corridor. if you don’t mind if you’re a smoker is your place to stay ! What is rundown location was was not worth the price of a youth hostel!!

Not as advertised
Advertised as a 'charming appartment' but in fact uncared for, dirty, old and broken. Better to see this in close up photos. Great work on the part of property manager who welcomed us, my issue is with the owner who clearly has invested nothing in this appartment in 20/30 years. There should be a warning that the stairs are dangerous for older people, also dangerous settings on gas hob so difficult to see when off or on. The tiny shower was a dribble and dirty and when fixed, water poured our the side of the screen onto the floor. Broken skirting boards, smelly bathroom drains.

This is a fourth floor walk-up. Which means five floors since the ground floor is not floor one. (This is a European/Spanish thing.) My wife and I are both seniors, I'm 75. We travel with a rolling duffel bag (50lbs.) and two backpacks. Since we were staying for eight nights I felt this wasn't a problem since the duffel would only need to ascend once. Also our property managers assistant helped with getting the bag up the stairs.
Some people review that the place was dark. I didn't think so. If you are familiar with city dwellings, then you know there isn't a lot of light that comes from the windows since there is another building twenty feet away. I found the lighting to be normal for an apartment sandwiched between buildings. The stairwell is dark but there is good lighting on each floor. So that wasn't a problem.
Overall the property was as advertised. Adequately furnished with what you would need in the kitchen. Towels and linins in good repair. Bed, table and seating were comfortable. Washing machine worked well.
This is in an awesome location in the Gothic Quarter! 15 minute walk to La Rambla, 10 minute walk to the waterfront and transportation and trains nearby. Less than 10 minutes. Simply put. If I return to Barcelona, I will try to rent this property again.

Small, dark apartment on a tiny El Born street
The access to this apartment is extremely challenging. Located off a dark narrow street, the small door of the building opens to a tiny staircase with multiple turns per floor. There is absolutely no space to even place your luggage inside the exterior door. The width of the stairwell is about 24 inches. It is too narrow to carry a suitcase in each hand. Several of the floors of the stairwell have burned out lights which make it very dark at night. We are fit adults and have rented numerous apartments with no elevator and required walk-ups, - this stairwell was very difficult to maneuver.
Even though the apartment is near the top of the building, the rooms are dark and windows look out to the building next door. Even by noon, I was never sure if the sun was out. The apartment advertises a balcony, but it is a French balcony overlooking the narrow street and offers no outside space.
The kitchen is not well-equipped for cooking. We had to buy a lighter to turn on the gas cooktop and oven. There were no dish towels and no cutting boards. Standard wine glasses would be a nice addition.
The bedframe was broken. Actually, the bedframe consists of 2 mismatched twin size frames taped together. The wooden slates on the frame are not solid and do not stay in place resulting in creaky noises and an overall unstable mattress.
The bathroom has a compact tub/shower combo with a flimsy plastic accordion door. On a positive note, there was good water pressure and plenty of hot water.
There is an AC unit over the dining area, but the bedroom could be stuffy during a hot night.
Being in the heart of El Born is the best quality of this apartment. I recognize that Barcelona tends to be an expensive city, but this apartment was not a good value. We were also surprised at the tourist tax that was required to be paid in cash. This additional charge was not communicated to us beforehand.
