About this property

Grange Bernard 2 - Lovely apartment in chalet with spectacular mountain views.

The apartments are totally self contained and located in the main chalet, the slopes are easily accessible by ski, foot or free shuttle bus. Valmeinier centre and its facilities can be reached in 2 min via the free shuttle bus or 15 mins by foot. The Inversins quad chair and piste to the 6 man Grandes Drozes chair are close by and it's possible to ski back very close to the chalet at the end of the day. The living and dining areas in both apartments are comfortable and furnished with traditional alpine furniture in keeping with both the chalet and surrounding area. The apartments benefit from spectacular views across the valley and are situated at 1700m in altitude. There is a bathroom and toilet in apartment 2. The living and dining area is on the ground level benefiting from underfloor heating, all other rooms having central heating. There are two bedrooms and a mezzanine level as well.

Both apartments are well maintained by ourselves and are bigger than the usual!

Shower room on ground floor with wash basin and heated towel rails.
Well equipped kitchen with electric hob, microwave oven/grill, fridge, dishwasher along with a full set of cooking and eating utensils.
Living Rooms: Living room includes sofa and chairs along with a selection of cushions and dining table. The living area also has a TV & DVD player.

Skiing: The Valmeinier/Valloire ski area has 150km of pistes to offer with resorts being linked and easily accessible from the apartment. Heavy investment in new chairlifts over the past few years has made this even quicker than before. The skiing is suited to all with lots of good cruising runs along with more challenging and off piste opportunities for those that seek it. Seventy percent of the ski area is located above 2000 meters and all lower slopes are covered by snow cannons just in case.
Walk 150 metres up the road and you can ski to the Inversins chair lift and piste allowing you easy access to Valmeinier or Valloire via high speed 4 and 6 seater chairs. The pistes are very well maintained in the area and lift queues are rarely a problem here as the resort is small in comparison to the size of the ski area.

For those wishing to have access to even more skiing there is Val Thorens accessible via Orelle in around 20-25 minutes by car.

Cycling: The apartments are ideally situated for cyclists being 10KM from the summit of the Col du Telegraph. Many of the mountain Col's used in the Tour de France can be accessed from our location, Galibier, Alp D'Huez, Glandon, Crox de Fer, Col D'liserian to name but a few.

Our garage provides suitable storage for bikes and limited maintenance equipment is available (Stand, basic tools, pumps, etc...) During the summer months we are able to provide more flexibility around our accommodation schedule so rule nothing out!

Mountain Bike: Valloire/Valmeinier has good lift served downhill mountain bike trails along with some cross country options. If you feel adventurous you can do both as it's possible to cycle to Valloire on a mountain bike via marked trails and then take the gondola to the top of some downhill trails!

Great stay

Lovely apartment with everything necessary for a family of 5. Situated slightly out of town (which was fine for access) and meant easy parking. Rob & Karen were extremely friendly & helpful with lots of local knowledge. We will be back!

Les hôtes sont charmants et disponibles.Il est dommage que le chalet soit mal isolé et très sonore. Tous les bruits de l'appartement voisin se répercute dans celui que nous occupions) Nous avons également regretté, dans ce logement "assez spartiate," le manque de petites fournitures de base toujours proposées pour le confort des vacanciers (produit vaisselle, éponge, torchon, etc...)compte tenu du montant du séjour.

Bonjour, Nous sommes désolés que vous ressentiez cela et sommes très surpris. Nous avons demandé à votre fille Chloé et à son mari plusieurs fois au cours de la semaine si l'appartement était correct et si vous aviez besoin de quelque chose et on nous a dit à chaque fois que tout allait bien. Votre fille nous a même remercié pour tout quand vous êtes parti et son mari a dit que l'appartement était parfait pour vos vacances. Nous sommes également très surpris de vos commentaires concernant le bruit. En 15 ans, nous n'avons eu qu'une seule plainte et c'était parce qu'un groupe avait organisé une fête. La semaine dernière a été très, très calme et si vous avez entendu du bruit, nous aurions vraiment aimé que vous nous le disiez afin que nous puissions écouter ce que c'était et vous aider. Nous aimons toujours que nos invités passent un bon moment. Si vous aviez besoin de quoi que ce soit, vous n'aviez qu'à nous le demander et nous vous aurions donné tout ce dont vous aviez besoin, tout comme le mélangeur que vous avez demandé pour faire de la soupe pour votre petite-fille de 2 ans que nous avons fournie immédiatement. Nous sommes déçus car nous avons vraiment apprécié rencontrer votre famille et avons pensé que tout se passait bien étant donné que c'est ce que Chloé et son mari nous ont dit à au moins trois reprises. À l'avenir, je suggérerais vraiment que vous demandiez à vos hôtes si vous avez besoin de quoi que ce soit lorsque vous êtes en vacances afin qu'ils aient l'occasion de vous aider. Très bon séjour

Chalet très agréable et spacieux. Rob est un hôte très sympathique et disponible. Le faible enneigement en station n’a pas permis de rejoindre directement les pistes depuis le chalet. Belle vue sur la montagne!

Spacious, clean and comfortable

Really good week spent here, it's a lovely apartment. It is easy to locate and sits near the helicopter pad under Val 1800 on the piste map. It was clean and tidy and perfectly warm throughout the week. The owner was welcoming and helpful with the odd question we had. The only downside for this chalet is the location. It is about a 5 minute walk from access to the slopes but this access includes a lot of trudging on the skis rather than skiing! If the snow is bad you can ski back very close but only if you are prepared to ski down the road. (Which I was!) We had a new skier with us so took to dropping them off at Val in the car before coming back and making the trudge to the lift daily. The parking situation is a bit odd with not being allowed to park in the ample spaces due to the snow plough potentially blocking you in. That being said we were able to park about 100m away in a layby. All that being said I would still come here again as I have never stayed in a more spacious apartment, particularly for this good price. Overall we had a great week and I'd recommend it to competent fit skiiers!

Thanks for taking the time to write the review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. We're sorry that the snow wasn't great during your stay, it's been a dry winter well until the last few days when snow levels have returned to normal levels for this time of year once again making the run the the Inversins chairlift less of a drag (no pun intended!). I certainly appreciated the extra neige when heading out this week. For those that don't fancy the trip on skis to the lift we also have the shuttle bus that stops less than 200 meters from that house running from 8am to 7pm each day and it takes less than 2 minutes to the resort center over the past 8 years this has also been really useful for our guests with families or debutant skiers. This year the resort have even smartened up our Grange Bernard bus stop which was much appreciated. Good point re the parking, we only ask our guests to park 100m up the road on the days that we know it's going to snow because the short 20 meter section of road outside is 17% in gradient we have seen many people break snow chains over the years so now advise to keep the car up on snowy days and to avoid the snow plow! Karen and I are really pleased that you all liked the extra space in the apartment and it was great to meet you all. It would be great to have you back at some stage if you return to Valmeinier. A perfect location for a family ski holiday

Having stayed with Rob and Karen in the Summer for 2 cycling holiday, when booking a ski-ing holiday for my family, they were my first choice. The chalet is a short drive down the mountain from the main resort, and there's a regular bus up the hill if you've not hired a car. The chalet itself is great - the views are spectacular, the rooms are spacious enough for a family of 4, and could easily accommodate 6, the dishwasher is a definite bonus, and it's lovely and warm inside! Rob and Karen are friendly and helpful, always ready of offer some advice on where to head to in order to get great snow, great food, great entertainment. The resort is fantastic for families - there's plenty of wide, open blue runs, and green 'return to base' runs for the kids, along with some really quick red runs, and challenging black runs, particularly if you head over towards Valoire (The ski pass covers the valleys to the East and West, all the way up to the Galibier valley). The bars and restaurants are good value, particularly the pizza place, with a mind boggling selection of pizza options! There's a reasonable selection of food to buy in the Spar up in the resort, and if you take a car you can drop down the Telegraphe for a better selection in Le Carrefour in St Michel de Maurienne. Overall, a great holiday destination, in a great location, away from the crowds of Meribel/Courcheval/Chamonix, with amenities close by, and underfloor heating! Highly recommended.

Sejour à Valmeinier

Superbe chalet avec une vue magnifique sur les montagnes et piste de ski, l'accueil est tres chaleureux, Robert le proprietaire est tres serviable et toujours à disposition. le chlet est grand et propre un depaysement total. le centre de Valmeinier est pas tres loin à pied et permet de faire une petite balade sympathique en famille

As a family we have spent lots of time in Valmeinier over the past 10 years. We finally bought the house and apartments after deciding we just wouldn't find anywhere better to live or play.

We all now live and work in Valmeinier full time.

What makes this property unique

Quiet location just outside of the resort center with the slopes just a few hundred meters up the road and for most of winter we can ski back to the door. Our apartments are significantly larger than those found in the resort center and as we live here all year round we're always willing to help you get the most from your holiday so feel free to ask. There's always a great feeling of being in the mountains when you stay with us...
