All the best, Brian & Joy
Nice little spot. Secluded but not hard to find. Joy, the owner, was very helpful and communicative, before, during and after our stay. The cabin is very small but was fine for our two night stay. Everything you need is there.
We just got back from staying here for 6 nights. It's very pleasant, but a bit small for a couple. Would probably more suit a single person looking for a quiet retreat. The owners are lovely and can't do enough for you. Only gripe? No welcome pack on arrival and nearest supermarket is about 40 min drive. Other than that, 5 stars all round!

Thank you for the feedback which we value, having double checked the distance to the nearest large Tesco, it is in fact 15 minutes.
There is also a well stocked shop in the next village Rockland St Mary which is only 7 minutes by car. Also a farm shop in our village for the usual essentials.
We don’t offer a welcome pack as people often have different requirements such as dietary intolerances, but if guests message me prior to their arrival and would like me to get them some basics in then I’m more than happy to.
The host was friendly and welcoming. The cabin is lovely and surrounding Broads beautiful too.

About the host
Hosted by Joy Heeler
Hello Travellers! My name is Joy, and together with my hubby Brian, we run Pottles Barn, with two self catering holiday accommodation, sleeping in total up to 8 people. I love meeting new people and strive to give our guests a place they can call home for how ever long they stay with us! I am an experienced host having been in this business for around 10 years. We moved down to Norfolk 4 years ago, prior to that we have lived in North Yorkshire, The Isle of Man and Lancashire. We are very approachable and if there is anything our guests require we are on hand to assist in any way we can. But we also appreciate that people come away to enjoy their surroundings without being pestered, so we are mindful of that too. I also love to paint! I get inspiration from our glorious surroundings and other subjects I find interesting! I have a studio in the garden and I also sell pieces of my artwork and jewellery.
Why they chose this property
We are very fortunate to be located in a wonderful part of the UK! With easy access to Norwich and the coast as well as being part of The Norfolk Broads , there is an array of activities all around! It’s great fun hiring a boat for the day, there are plenty of places nearby to do this, along with boat trips, kayaking, fishing paddle boarding and so much more! In our village, Surlingham ,we have two riverside pubs which are both dog friendly and serve meals most days. The FerryHouse is a 7 minutes stroll from Pottles. There is also Yare Valley farm shop, selling locally grown produce and their own oils, next to that is a timeshare swimming pool, anyone can book a slot if it’s available. Teles Portuguese Patisserie is a great place to stop and indulge in some delicious Portuguese pastries and coffee! If wine tasting is your thing, then Winbirri Vineyard is worth a visit, they do tours, wine tasting and in the summer have an open air bar. The Ted Ellis nature reserve is also close. All within walking distance.
What makes this property unique
Our cosy, newly built log cabin is situated in a quiet, private part of our large garden.Overlooking fields it is a haven for wildlife. We have given the layout a lot of thought, it’s open plan to create more space, and there is also plenty of outside areas to sit and relax. We welcome friendly dogs but due to the size of the cabin small or medium sized dogs only.
