About this property

Finest Retreats | Ty'r Delyn

Ty’r Delyn (translation: ‘Harp House’) is a traditional black and white fronted Welsh terraced cottage set in the rural village of Dolwyddelan. Positioned in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, it provides an ideal location for lovers of the outdoors to explore the beauty of the local area from a cosy and characterful base. With views of Snowdon and Moel Siabod from the front door and rear garden, it would be hard to find a more picturesque, idyllic and tranquil setting than this one!

Whist retaining many of its original features, Ty’r Delyn has recently been modernised to provide the perfect sanctuary to relax with a luxury hot tub, log fire and snug living spaces. The cottage comfortably sleeps five people across the two upstairs bedrooms, which neighbour the stylish bathroom with a walk-in shower. The master bedroom has a king-sized double bed and a single, whilst the second bedroom has a double. On the ground floor, the recently renovated kitchen is fully equipped including a slimline dishwasher. The kitchen backs onto a sizeable garden with a family dining area and a hot tub located under a wooden gazebo.

With WiFi, board games, books and a wide screen TV, the living area provides the perfect area to relax with friends and family whilst feeling the warmth from the log burner (there are even some friendly sheep to watch out of the living room and bedroom windows as they peacefully graze the neighbouring field!) The dining area has been tastefully furnished and houses a dining table that comfortably seats 6 people.

The lane to the front of the cottage is a cul-de-sac and therefore exceptionally quiet with little passing traffic. There is free parking up the lane with enough space for two cars.

Whether it’s walking through the endless & stunning local scenery, cycling the captivating routes from the front door, rafting through white water rapids, surfing the waves, zip lining across valleys, teeing off on the surrounding courses, seeing the many local historic sights or simply just relaxing, Ty’r Delyn provides an exquisite space that can be enjoyed by everyone.

Please note there is a 9pm curfew on the use of the hot tub and playing loud music is not permitted. There is a starter pack of logs and kindling provided for the log burner. For the best available rates check out Finest Retreats.

Beautiful well presented cottage hidden away in Snowdonia, it had everything we needed for a weekend
Beautiful well presented cottage hidden away in Snowdonia, it had everything we needed for a weekend away, the cottage was extremely clean, nothing at all to fault. Hot tub was really easy to use. Very quiet area with great local walks right on the doorstep. Short walking distance to the train station, local shop and 2 local pubs. We will definitely recommend the cottage to family and friends and hope to return in the near future 😃

November 2022
We enjoyed our 3 night stay! The house is great for a few nights away to rejuvenate and switch off. The location is great if you enjoy country roads and being in an idle quiet area, local village has the basic needs such as a few restaurants and mini supermarkets, few pubs we did not try these. However went to Y stable, Bewts-y-coed and cannot rate it highly enough! Accommodation has all the basic needs for any stay, roomy, plenty of storage, modern kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. Hot tub was an added bonus, heats up quick and great for a mini massage after a walk in the local hills/snowdon. Had a few preferences that would change/improve (but each to their own). The heating is controlled by the host… we went for a walk up snowdon and got rather wet and cold, we asked the host to turn up the heating but only did so up to 22 on 2 (one up and one down) of the 4 radiators meaning our clothes/boots didn’t try quick enough for another wear. Host was asked a few times to increase the heat, but we failed to continue as we felt like we’re being a nuisance and pestering. Would be more suited for the winter/colder months to allow the guests to control this. Dishwasher was provided but no tablets, don’t mind purchasing our own but nice to have them provided, we just washed up each time. Salt, pepper and salt provided, but no oil or sauces again, happy to purchase our own and people leave them behind but could be a just a little added touch. Hot tub was not allowed to be used past 9pm we stayed the latest in there around 6/7pm but late at night around 9/10pm fanciest a dip and couldn’t die to this restriction

Lovely but not great value
Cottage itself was clean and tidy, lovely bedrooms and bathrooms in particular! For the price per night I would have expected at least some basic provisions to be provided, such a coffee, but there was absolutely nothing. Small touches like this can make a big difference. While lovely, I feel this property is over priced and missing some key things that could make it more welcoming.

We had a lovely stay in "The Harp House" (English Translation) and found the property to have everything we needed for a family of 4 adults and one child. Everything was clean and tidy on arrival and it was easy to stop outside the house to unload the car - parking was further down the streeton the lane at the top of the no through road. There is no reserved spot so you have to take whatever is available at the time you arrive. The kitchen has all you need for simple catering and we cooked a few meals here without any problems. The pub in the village offered a warm welcome and a good food selection for a small village pub and the gammon steak with home cooked chips were delicious. We found we were never really far from anywhere as the house is quite centrally located in the Snowdonia area meaning everything is within a 15 - 30 minute drivecloser. If you like Zip world that is literally 5 minutes around the corner and shopping for essentials at Blaenau Ffestiniog along with takeaways, etc, is less than 15 minutes drive. There is a Spar shop in the Dolwydellan so you do not need to drive anywhere to get provisions if you don't want to. On your doorstep you have lovely walks around the local area and Dolwydellan castle is about 20 minutes walk up the road and well worth a visit. The slate museum in Llanberis is worth a visit with great walks around the disused mines giving fantastic views but if you want to get dirty and truly experience what a slate mine is all about a trip to Corris Mine explorers gives a really authentic and well priced adventure for a few hours. If you are concerned about the potential noise of the river running behind the house don't be, the sound does not intrude into the house that much even when the river in full flood - what you can hear is very soothing at bed time. The host is very helpful and was easy to reach when needed.

Absolutely lovely! If you can afford it it’s worth it!!
The location is stunning! Beds are super comfy and the hot tub was definitely our (the childrens) favourite part of the visit!! We adored the fire place and the little touches (the sheep theme was lovely.) The bathroom bin hadn’t been emptied which is obviously a bit yucky! The toilet seat wasn’t my favourite if I was being a fuss pot!!
