Loups d'Or up to 10 guests + private salt water pool + panoramic views

We are Pimm and Marcel, the proud owners of Loups d’Or in Lusignac, in the gently sloped hills of the Dordogne-Charente border.

Our life together started in Hamburg in the year 2000, where we opened a contemporary art gallery. After we’d moved to Amsterdam, we opened a Chocolaterie, specialised in fair trade and organic chocolate in the old centre, not far away from the Rijksmuseum.

We have both worked as aircraft cabin crew, for KLM-Air France and BA, respectively, during which time we learned a lot about many different cultures, countries and hospitality.

Art, generally, architecture, nature, our environment, cooking, music, culture, playing tennis, walking and rowing are our main mutual interests, but probably the most important thing we share is ‘change’, and follow our dreams…….like having our own holiday cottage letting company.

We choose Loups d'Or in the Dordogne-Charente border because we instantly fell in love with the region and with the 14th century farmhouse and its location.

Our village, Lusignac, is situated near the Dordogne-Charente border, an hour and a half north-east from Bordeaux and only 15 minutes from Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, one of the ‘Most beautiful villages in France’. In the area, cafés, restaurants, wine bars and the weekly markets are open throughout the year, which means the villages are lively and not abandoned. In neighbouring Saint-Séverin is a great ‘boulangerie’ and other shops and supermarkets are al nearby. Although near tourist magnet Aubeterre, in summer, the area and the roads are quiet and not swamped with tourists like in other parts of the Dordogne.

The region is hilly and great for hiking and walking, but you will be able to cycle around without too much difficulty. There are rivers for canoeing, kayaking and rafting and nearby, there are golf courses, tennis courts and stables and we shouldn’t forget the river beaches for swimming, which are lovely.

Loups d’Or is an old farmhouse with 21st century luxury, set in a large garden with panoramic views.

Our gîte is a characterful and luxury holiday home which sleeps up to 9 guests. It has four bedrooms and two shower rooms and is ideal for groups and family gatherings.

The lounge has exposed wooden beams, wooden floorboards and high ceilings, is decorated with original artwork, has a wood burner, a TV (with a chromecast connection) and a piano. The kitchen diner has a large dining table, induction hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge, toaster, kettle and a Nespresso coffee machine. Outside the kitchen, there is a 16sqm balcony with a large table and views over the panoramic countryside. The gîte offers everything you expect of a modern and luxury lifestyle, in a characterful and fashionable atmosphere.

Outside, there are terraces where you can enjoy a glass of wine and the sunset. A BBQ is available for your alfresco lunch and dinner. The house also comes with free Wi-Fi, a washing machine, DVD player, PlayStation, air-conditioning and central heating by means of a sustainable heat exchange system.

Our heated, eco-friendly salt water pool, with Roman in-built steps, allows easy access. The pool is for your private and exclusive use.
