Totnes.

As we call it hippie city !
It's kind of alternative with lots of vegetarian café an restaurants, great one off shops and has markets on Fridays and Saturdays that is well worth a visit.
There's a boat from Totnes to Dartmouth and a stream train back to paignton, its called the round Robin.

Also from Totnes railway station a steam train runs up the beautiful Dart Valley to the butterfly farm in Buckfastleigh.

Dartmoor.

A short drive directly through the lanes or if your not keen on a lot of reversing due to single track roads just drive to either Newton Abbot or Totnes and follow the signs to either Ashburton or Bovey Tracey both gateways to the Moor.
A beautiful moorland where pony's sheep and cows wander freely.
Amazing views, fantastic walks / hikes with local Moorland inns to stop at and have lunch.

The English Riviera.

Or as we say Torbay consisting of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.
Just a short 10 to 15 minute drive through the lanes (or via Totnes on the main road) it has many lovely beaches, shops a pier, amusement arcades all those holiday destination activities you would expect, fantastic for the children.

The South Hams.

Again via Totnes a little further is the area known as the South Hams beautiful coast lines, beaches and country side. The roads are quite busy at the hight of the summer but it is worth a early start to get there.

We had a fantastic stay in this great location, rural but really convenient for local towns and beach. The house was well equipped, clean and it was a lovely touch to arrive to supplies left by the owner who was really easy to reach and helpful. Thanks so much for a lovely stay, we'll be back!

Our little family of four loved our stay at this property. Hosts were lovely, kind and welcoming. The house was a gem. Fully stocked kitchen which we used often with two littles. The jetted bathtub was loved by everyone. Great fenced in outdoor area. Absolutely lovely stay. We will be back.

Getting to know the English Riviera and Torbay
It has been a great pleasure staying at Dainton Elms. Good location, value for money, very friendly landlord and landlady right next door. Had a great welcome with a few very much appreciated supplies. :) We loved the quiet, Torquay and other destinations on the shore are only a short drive away, even Tintagel and much less Dartmoor are within reach for your daily adventures. Lovely pubs with friendly locals right in the neighborhood, and the same goes for the public golf course almost next door. So much to discover, we loved this part of South England! Can't be there every summer, but surely it's one of these places on your visit again list.

Dainton Elms
Lovely property attached to owners house, very well equipped with pretty much everything we needed. Tony and Jan were very welcoming, as was Wilf the dog! They were on hand if had any questions and gave us lovely advice on good places to visit and eat. Fab location for exploring the surrounding area, such as Painton, Brixham and Torquay. Would love to return there in the future.
