About this property

Bramblewood - Cosy chic, hot tub, close to beach

Summary:
Encapsulating contemporary chic with the best of a gentle Devon cottage, Bramblewood invites a laid-back yet stimulating stay. This single-storey home is nestled among the verdancy of an established half acre of rose and laurel with plenty of outdoor space and a hot tub. The feature double-sided fireplace with wood-burning stove provides cosy comfort in the living room and vibrant kitchen-diner. Three soothing bedrooms sleep up to 6 guests in two king-size beds, and a bunk bed for children.

The Space:
Gentle earthy accents frame a mix of traditional style and contemporary vibrancy at Bramblewood.

As a single-storey home, Bramblewood’s accessibility makes it reassuring for guests with mobility concerns.

The distinctive, plush yellow-green sofa and armchair are perfect for gathering to talk of the day’s adventures, or sitting back to catch-up on that boxset on the smart TV.

A feature double-sided fireplace with wood-burning stove sits between the lounge and kitchen-diner, built into the whitewashed thick, solid stone wall.

The well-equipped kitchen has a real zest for life. Zingy yellows contrast with functional greys, with seating for 6 near the feature wood-burning stove.

The master bedroom features a king-size bed, a built-in wardrobe, and a chest of drawers. Bedroom two’s eye-catching silver-effect headboard sets off the second king-size bed. There’s also a pine frame to hang clothes, and a chest of drawers.

Bedroom three has the kids’ comfort in mind. There’s a bunk bed and a rail to hang clothes and store cases.

The family shower room has an invigorating crispness. Large carbon-grey brick tiles highlight the white bathroom suite. There’s a small step into the double-size shower cubicle with electric shower.

To the rear, alongside the undulating garden, is the paved terrace. The large, L-shaped Rattan seating is more than ample for family and friends to gather for drinks and or enjoy a tasty barbecue. Plus, to really soothe away life’s pressures, the hot tub is your own private hydro treatment.

Beyond the large pyramid planters, the mature garden blends into the surrounding bucolic landscape. With tall trees, laurels, rose, and japonica, nature’s at home here with you. Listen to the uninterrupted sounds of the countryside as you picnic and restore your calm.

(NOTE: Some photos show security cameras in the garden. These have been removed)

Guest Access:
Bramblewood’s rural location means that some roads are quite narrow, and single-lane in some places (there are passing points along the way).

As you turn off the road, there’s a fairly steep drive, which curves round to the right and down to the large parking area - adequate for several cars.

The Neighborhood:
Tucked away in the quiet tranquillity of Stoketeignhead near Torquay, Bramblewood gives blissful serenity. You’re just a couple of miles from bustling Torquay, and around 5 miles from Teignmouth - with glorious beaches and clifftop views in between.

The resort towns of Torbay have something for everyone - from chic cafés and bars, casual and formal dining, traditional inns, and a wide variety of shops. Stroll along the palm-lined promenade, relax on sandy beaches and in tranquil sunspots.

It's just a few miles to the charming coastal town of Teignmouth with three beaches to enjoy. The 'Town Beach' is a long stretch of sand and shingle, perfect for relaxing, sunbathing, and building sandcastles. Take a dip in the sea or enjoy a leisurely stroll along the promenade. The sandy 'River Beach' is a popular spot for water sports such as kayaking, paddleboarding, and windsurfing. Enjoy the scenic surroundings and explore the river's estuary. The 'Back Beach', on the eastern side of town is a quieter beach with stunning views across the estuary. It's a lovely spot for a peaceful walk or to watch the sunset.

Across the river (by road or ferry) is the picturesque village of Shaldon. The sandy beach is perfect for swimming and picnicking. The Shaldon Wildlife Trust is a small but charming zoo that's home to a variety of exotic animals, including primates, reptiles, and birds. It's a great place for families and animal lovers.

For a tranquil and relaxing beach experience away from crowds, Maidencombe Beach is nestled in a picturesque cove surrounded by cliffs and greenery, offering a peaceful and serene atmosphere.

Dartmoor National Park offers vast open moorlands, ancient tors, and picturesque villages. It's an excellent destination for hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and exploring the area's rich history and wildlife.

There's dining to cater for all palettes nearby. The Church House Inn in the village of Marldon is a traditional country pub serving delicious food and a selection of local ales and ciders. It offers a warm and cozy atmosphere with a menu featuring classic pub dishes.

Enjoy stunning estuary views at The Ness in Shaldon. Its popular seafood dishes made from locally caught produce are a hit with the locals, and their menu also includes meat and vegetarian options.

The Angelique Bistro in Torquay is a charming restaurant that offers a mix of French and Mediterranean cuisine. They use locally-sourced ingredients to create flavourful dishes, and the intimate setting adds to the dining experience.

From world cuisine to Devon dishes, and from action-packed to laid-back mindfulness - a stay at Bramblewood gives you the variety your holiday deserves, right on your doorstep.

Getting Around:
A car's essential for getting to and from Bramblewood. You're just 10 minutes from the sea - Maidencombe Beach's sandy cove, to Babbacombe's clifftops.

You're just a couple of miles from Torquay where there are frequent bus services across Torbay and beyond. Rail services from Torquay link to historic Exeter. There are also connections to the London mainline at nearby Newton Abbot.

Other Things to Note:
Owing to its rural location, Internet speeds at Bramblewood can be slow. There is limited 4G and 5G mobile reception.
