We had such a wonderful time staying here. The house is great, very clean with everything we needed and the location ideal for walking down to the sea or popping over the bridge into Teignmouth. It’s really spacious and very child friendly (we have a 3 year old and 5 month old). Also the communication with the owners was fantastic - we most definitely will be back!!
Comfortable and interesting property in a lovely seaside village
We had a fabulous relaxing stay at this lovely character property in Shaldon. It was very clean with a well equipped kitchen and a nice dining room and pleasant sitting room. The bedrooms were also clean with comfortable beds. The bathroom was family sized with a spacious hot shower and a bath as well. There are stairs but there are stairs gates if you have children.
There is a lot to do in the area which is very dog friendly. Many pubs and restaurants welcome dogs. We visited the beaches in Shaldon (through smugglers tunnel), Dawlish and Dawlish Warren (lovely wide long sandy beach). The beaches are very impressive with lots of coloured and tumbled rocks and shells to find. We really enjoyed the walk to magnificent Haytor Rocks on Dartmoor and the stroll by the quarry pools which were very picturesque. Buckhurst Abbey was interesting and we enjoyed some tea and scones after. Lots of places to eat and drink. Masses of pubs to stop at too. Highly recomended by us!

Thank you Georgina for your lovely review, we're so pleased you had a lovely time. It sounds like you had a wonderful week 😊
As a family of 7 this house had everything we needed for our holiday, utility area for all those sandy shoes, tupperware for picnics out, safety features to keep the youngest safe. We really appreciated all of the family touches, it helped us feel relaxed and a wonderful home from home. Contact from the owner was exceptional and the folder of information helped us discover some great adventures and make memories. We would highly recommend this property and hope to visit again in the future.

About the host
Hosted by Tim and Hannah Moores
We are Tim and Hannah, we have 3 children; Milo, Lyla and Amelie. Hannah's family has a lifelong connection to Shaldon holidays, we are the 4th generation of my family to holiday here. This is our first holiday home here. We love Shaldon and go a few times every year.
Why they chose this property
We viewed this property on a whim, and fell in love. Its spacious and light, unlike a lot of the other cottages in Shaldon. We love the first floor Living room, with its floorboards and big windows - the perfect space to watch the world go by. The 3 bedrooms offer plenty of sleeping space. It has a family bathroom with a Bath and a big Shower, and importantly an additional cloakroom toilet. It has parking and a small garden. The Utility room is the perfect space to head to when you return from the beach. We think it makes an ideal holiday home and hope you will too.
What makes this property unique
We think this property ticks so many boxes. Parking spaces in Shaldon aren't easy to come by, especially in the summer months, so having one at the property is so helpful. Over my lifetime I have stayed in so many cottages in Shaldon, unlike many of them The Old Toll House feels so light and airy, it's a spacious property with high ceilings and plenty of space. It has a small courtyard garden space too.
