Dalnafeidh Beag is a recently renovated couple’s apartment set on a working Croft in the coastal village of Appin in a dramatic and beautiful location close to one of Scotland’s most romantic castles, the much-photographed Castle Stalker on its tiny island. A real rural idyll, “Dal Na Feidh” means “Field of the Deer” and you are likely to see deer close-up in the croft grounds, stags often roar close-by in the rutting season!
The apartment has an open plan living/diner/kitchen area with patio doors onto a small seating area and separate spacious, welcoming double bedroom with en-suite shower room. Adjoining the owners’ property, you have your own private seating area and ample parking. Dalnafeidh is a working croft, so you can enjoy viewing crofting life with the crofter coming and going to see to the livestock in the barn and in the fields surrounding the apartment.
Appin Bay is a 10-minute walk and has a fabulous coastal walk across Jubilee Bridge offering scenic views of the iconic Castle Stalker. The area is a delight for walkers, surrounded by stunning coastal and mountain walks, and with 20 Monroes nearby, all abilities are catered for! Cyclists can enjoy the Sustran’s cycle track, which you can join at the bottom of the hill – it’s almost entirely traffic free from Oban and Fort William. You can hire electric bikes in Appin too! The village of Appin offers an excellent choice of cafés and inns, all offering breath-taking views and delicious local food, gift shops, hotel, a renowned garden centre and a garage with fuel. Within 3.5 miles the village of Port Appin has a gift shop, village store and some lovely coastal walks and is also home to two of Scotland’s most prestigious eating places. To the North are the villages of Ballachulish and Glencoe, approximately 15-minutes’ drive, which offer small supermarkets, tourist information, cafés, bars, restaurants and activities.
Steeped in history, Glencoe is surrounded by the most breath-taking scenery of mountains and lochs and offers a large range of sports and outdoor activities, including winter sports, hill walking, climbing, mountaineering, fishing and water sports, mountain biking and golfing. Despite its tranquility, Appin is conveniently located between Fort William, known as the ’Outdoor Capital of the UK’ where you can access Aonach Mor mountain range and Ben Nevis, and the popular town of Oban, the ‘Seafood Capital of Scotland’ and ‘Gateway to the Isles’ which has an abundance of shops and restaurants, as well as ferries to islands such as stunning Mull, Iona and Staffa, amongst others. Beach 1 mile.
