Lovely Duplex Apartment near to beach and stunning coastal walks
The Ellingham Apartments at Bordeaux is located only 30 seconds walk from the brightly coloured fishing boats bobbing in the natural little harbour of Bordeaux, on the northeast coast of Guernsey. The harbour is a popular spot for artists and photographers due to its natural beauty and gorgeous light as the sun rises. From here, you can pick up the coastal paths for a walk around this gorgeous part of Guernsey.
The ‘Ellingham Apartments at Bordeaux’ is a small holiday complex with 7 apartments. Lihou is a duplex apartment (on two levels), typically with a Friday arrival day. The apartment is accessed via a flight of external stairs which leads to a small patio by the front door (at first floor level). The apartment has an 'upside-down' layout and so opening your front door takes you to the living room.
Lihou has an open plan living, dining and kitchen area. It offers comfortable lounging, with TV, DvD player and a selection of games. The kitchen is fully equipped with all that should be needed (oven, hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher.
The bedrooms and the bathroom are downstairs. The master bedroom has a king-size bed. The second bedroom is on the cosy side and so has one single bed (plus we can provide a travel cot for infants). It has a lovely travertine bathroom with bath and overhead shower.
Outside, there is a raised garden with picnic bench seating areas, which is shared by all the apartments. As there are only 7 properties at the Ellingham Apartments at Bordeaux, with guests often out-and-about enjoying all that the island has to offer, it is usually nice and quiet. There is also a shared laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers, which are free for guests to use. Good WiFi and free parking.
Being right next to a beach and the north coastal paths, plus Vale Castle only a short walk away, there is much to explore (the views from the castle are spectacular). The sheltered clear waters of Bordeaux make it an ideal place for a swim, particularly when the tide is in. Children will enjoy building sandcastles and looking for crabs in the rocky outcrops.
There is a good (and cheap) bus service close by, which will take you to St Peter Port and its VAT-free shopping, or you can pick up the circular-island route to head to the long stretches of sandy beaches at L’Ancresse and Pembroke, or onwards around the whole island. This is a great way to start exploring this beautiful island!

Apartment was very clean and comfortable in a good location on the island. Apartment is big enough for 2/3 people. Has everything you need for a week or two on Guernsey. Would stay there again.

Disappointed
A photo of the accommodation on the website gave the impression it was where I was staying, in fact it was another site. My duplex had a staircase blocking the bedroom window I believe I should have been told about this before I arrived , the view, such as it was beyond the staircase was a carpark which was half filled with tradesmen’s vans, led me to wonder if this was holiday accommodation. Outside a few tubs with neglected plants and cigarette stubs. The duplex though was spacious and well equipped. I have complained to the owners who acknowledged my concerns and are trying to improve things by making colourful tubs and being more accurate on their website.

We are so upset that you didn't enjoy your stay as strive to delight all our guests.
We have checked our VRBO listings & our website, as is important that the info & photos are accurate. On the VRBO listing (through which you booked) there are two photos of the exterior of the Ellingham Apartments at Bordeaux. Our website does show an external photo of our other complex (Ellingham Cottages) on the overall 'Stay' page and then gives two links - one to the Cottages in St Martins complex and the other to the Bordeaux Apartments complex. Whilst the photo isn't named, it isn't trying to give a false impression - but I can - and will make clearer, as we don't wish any uncertainty.
As the apartments are 'upside-down' and accessed via a flight of external stairs (as noted on both VRBO & our website), one of the bedrooms in each apartment does unfortunately have a partial staircase view. There are sunscreen privacy blinds in all the bedrooms, so that the curtains can be open and natural light enter the room, but still being private.
And with regards to vans in the car park, we do apologise as whilst usually our guests are holiday visitors, we have had a greater number of contractor reservations recently. We totally agree that the tubs were looking tired and are improving this and other areas.
We wish we had known of your disappointment during your stay as would have tried to make a meaningful difference. All we can now do is apologise for falling short of your expectations.
