Bournemouth is the perfect base for anyone wishing to explore Dorset’s wonderful coastline. For those wishing to indulge in a spot of retail therapy, to eat well, party, or simply spend a day by the sea, Bournemouth has it all.

The town is perfectly situated to enjoy some of the best coastal walks in England. For a lengthy walk, try the 6-mile route along the coast to the dramatic headland of Hengistbury Head. If you’d like to stay closer to the town, there are plenty of walks around Bournemouth and neighbouring Poole.

Don’t forget a visit to the world famous Sandbanks or Millionaires Row - Britain’s most expensive coastal location. Take your car over to Studland on the chain link ferry, to explore the geological marvel that is Old Harry Rocks, enjoy the beach or paddleboard in the harbour - or if that’s all too much effort sit in the terrace of the Sandbanks hotel and admire the sea views.

Bournemouth has plenty to see and do for all types of holidays. Families can enjoy a trip to Monkey World, Oceanarium or Bournemouth Pier for some traditional arcade games, while groups and couples can explore Bournemouth’s exciting nightlife. Art enthusiasts should pay a visit to the Russell-Cotes or Whitewall Gallery which hold fascinating exhibitions throughout the year.

Just 15 minutes from Bournemouth, you’ll find the unique town of Christchurch. Set on the shores of its own natural harbour, Christchurch is a tranquil town, idyllically situated on the edge of the New Forest National Park. History buffs should visit the ruins of the Norman Christchurch Castle.

With an eclectic range of contemporary and traditional eateries, you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to dining out. Chez Fred’s in Westbourne is a fabulous fish and chip restaurant where you can eat in or have a takeaway. Da Mario is a renowned pizzeria. For lunch with a view over Bournemouth’s spectacular beach, head to West Beach a light-filled beachfront restaurant, open all day, specialising in local seafood and steaks.

If you’re venturing out of the area, Bournemouth is close to Poole, Christchurch and Corfe Castle.
