The villa was exactly as described, away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. Very peaceful with lovely restaurant nearby. We ate in and dined out so the barbecue and inside kitchen facilities were ideal. Alfonso welcomed us and gave loads of hints and tips for what to see, do and where to park etc. He was available at all times to help us improve the holiday experience and was an asset. The local mini-marts were sensibly priced and supplied most basics to get us going. The fruit trees in the garden were a nice addition with lemons for drinks, figs and kiwis for treats. The garden got sun from first thing to the evening despite our visit being in October.
Excellent property in a great location. Would recommend a car as it is up in the hills but not if you're a nervous driver! Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius all worth a visit and very close by. Alfonso was wonderful and can arrange several trips. We went to Capri and were picked up in the town and dropped off there which made things very easy and relaxing. Pizza experience was fabulous and great fun! Highly recommended.
Fabulous property & property away from the tourist areas
We had a great time relaxing here after a week of intense sightseeing. We were able to take a couple of day trips out, with a hire car, but we didn't really want to do any more.
The property is clean, well equipped and the pool is fabulous.
Alfonso, the host, was really great. He couldn't have been more helpful, greeting us in Moiano centre and taking us to the cottage. He also checked in (via WhatsApp) regularly to make sure everything was OK.
The Air-conditioning throughout is really good, but the cottage stays fairly cool anyhow, so we only used it at night.
The WiFi was an acceptable speed, we had no issues with downloading anything.
The only downside was that we were not able to use the pizza oven. Because of issues with previous guests they now have someone come and start it for you and show you how to use it. As we have an oven at home that we use regularly, we didn't think the extra cost was worth it. And the pizza restaurant at the bottom of the drive was great anyhow.
Moiano is a lovely little town, with enough bars and restaurants to keep us interested.
We would definitely stay with Naples Villas again
Alfonso is an excellent, helpful host. Nothing is too much trouble.
Moiano is a small, remote community. I recommend a supermarket shop for supplies before heading to the villa, as the local shops are very basic. The road from Vico Equense is busy, narrow and winding and the roads to the Amalfi coast and Sorrento even more so. A car is essential and ideally a small one.
The villa is a fine location for a poolside holiday but not ideal as a base if you plan to sightsee.
Whilst clean and modern, with a lovely pool and poolside area (apart from the mosquitos), internally there are some shortcomings: There is no lounge or comfortable seating, just chairs around the dining table. The TV is mounted high on the wall making it uncomfortable to watch. The food preparation space is tiny. The bedrooms are rather sparse, with only one bedside table and lamp in each room and no wardrobe in the upstairs bedroom.. The main bathroom is faultless, but the en-suite is tiny and you have to sit side-saddle on the toilet as there is inadequate room for your legs.
Whilst fine for a family, I wouldn’t recommend for say, three adult couples.

Thank you, Michael, for your kind words. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service as it is imperative to us that guests have a wonderful stay. The local shops offer all essential items but some guests choose to do a 'big' shop to 'stock up' on route to the property. As you say, the winding roads are characteristic of most coastal towns in Italy and offer breathtaking views. We always recommend small or mid-sized cars, but some guests use SUVs and get used to the roads after a day. We are pleased that you loved the pool and garden at Villa Gelsomina. The photos show that there is no lounge seating as there is an open-plan kitchen and dining room. Most guests spend much time outside in the patio area where outdoor furniture is provided. We will check the height of the TV although previous guests have never mentioned this being an issue. We will look into providing more furniture in the bedrooms but other guests have said that they have enjoyed the space as it is 'clutter' free. Although no other guests have mentioned these issues, we take all guests' feedback seriously.
Alfonso, our host was extremely helpful, arranging our airport transfers. As it was Sunday, the shop were all closed, Alfonso brought us bottles of water, milk, lemons and oranges from his own house.
The villa was very clean, with lovely outdoor seating and pool area. Every morning a gardener came to clean the garden and the pool.
As we didn't have a car, Alfonso informed us about the bus timings and the local restaurants. We used buses for first two days however,
the buses aren't always on time, we waited nearly 2 hours one day, therefore we don't recommend public transport. If you have confidence to drive, it is highly recommended. There is lots of pay parking in the town centres. Otherwise your time is taken up waiting around for buses and trains.
Alfonso recommended various excursions, where we were picked up from our villa. Which was fantastic as the other tour companies will not pick you up from the villa as it was deemed too far from the destination.
Alfonso was very informative and accurate with all his advice. I would book all your excursions with him as you will be looked after well.
Overall, you cannot go wrong with this villa as long as you hire a car.
The scenery is superb and our group of 6 adults had a wonderful holiday.
Schönes Haus in einem verschlafenen italienischen Bergdorf.
