About this property

Hillside Balcony - a house that sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms

Hillside Balcony has the most wonderful views over the Spey Valley to the Cairngorm Mountains. The captivating ever changing scenery and colours may tempt you to stay on the balcony and not venture far. The house is finished to an excellent standard and offers spacious family holiday accommodation including a gravel courtyard garden to the rear with wood fired hot tub and seating for al fresco dining.

Kingussie is a quiet town with excellent local shops and good quality art galleries. The town itself lies by the River Spey and is surrounded by some of the best of Scottish scenery with views to the heather clad Cairngorm Mountains. The mountains form the heart of the Cairngorm National Park with magnificent native woodlands to explore and a vast range of wildlife to be seen. Walking and bike trails are available from the door step while there are numerous selections of day trips to Inverness, the Moray Firth for dolphin watching or Whisky and Castle trails. All in all it is a superb location from which to explore the Scotland’s fascinating culture and history.

There are wonderful opportunities for all types of outdoor recreation including the renowned Aviemore ski resort, mountain biking (bikes can be hired locally), pony trekking and good access to local walks including the Speyside Way. There are superb opportunities for wildlife watching including Ospreys at the RSPB Abernethy Forest Reserve on the shore of Loch Garten; Cappercailie can also be seen if you are an early riser. There is a local bird hide at Milton Loch, Boat of Garten. Golfers will be in heaven with an old Tom Morris and Harry Vardon 18 hole Course on the edge of the town, a further eleven 18 and 9 hole courses are available across the Cairngorms National Park including the 9-hole course of Carrbridge and Boat of Garten’s 18 hole course which is as demanding as it is lovely, set against the backdrop of stunning Cairn Gorm,
In the east of the Park, the Royal Deeside villages of Ballater and Braemar offer 18-hole courses. Possibly too much choice, but whatever your choice of activity make sure not to miss some relaxation with a treat for everyone by booking Sunday Lunch on the Strathspey Railway Steam Train.
