Our serene, open floor plan home features everything you need for a short stay or a long term get away. Our goal was comfortable and attractive- a place we like to go and share. I hope you agree. We are walking distance to everything, Lanes Cove, Plum Cove and quarries in the heart of funky, scenic Lanesville. Park your car (in your own dedicated spot). Stroll to the Package/General store, post office, Cafe and more. Convenient, yet private! At 1,100 square feet it is bigger than some three bedroom homes we have seen but as it is open with a modern, beach feel we count it as a one bedroom. The 'official' bedroom is upstairs overlooking the Cove, it features a queen and a twin and a sitting area. Downstairs there is comfortable seating for all your friends, three full couches, two dining areas, an office/desk area and a full kitchen with all the appliances (and a well stocked pantry). In the rare occasion it is too hot or cold we have that covered. We recently renovated and installed a/c through heat pumps (split systems). We also offer wifi and cable in case you need to get a bit of work done, and a full laundry. There is one granite step to enter, and stairs to the bedroom. Many guests enjoy the down couches or the high Queen airbed downstairs for overflow guests. Why we love Lanesville. If you have been there you will know-Lanesville is a funky village home to an eclectic crew, lobstermen, artists and a white and blue collar workforce. A highlight of life in the Cove is the sunsets, residents and visitors make the evening pilgrimage to the Cove wall or Plum Cove to enjoy what has been dubbed some of the best sunsets in the world. They really are! Outdoor, adventure travelers will love Lanesville too for it's easy access to the water, and quarries and Greenbelt trails-Kayaks, SUP, and mountain bikes are everywhere. Need more adventure? Halibut Point State Park is a mile down the 'Scenic road' Prefer a more sedate vacation. Park it on the deck, overlook the Cove with a good book or maybe cook up some fresh lobsters from down the street- or start the grill. Shopping in nearby Bearskin neck, or taking in a concert at the many musical venues including the Shalin Liu Center is an option. Shopping in Gloucester is fun too. Everyone will enjoy nearby adventures, including whale watches- though we have seen them right off the rocks, visiting the wolves or the big sandy beaches in town- Wingarsheek and Good Harbor. Try to save some time for Hammond Castle, the wonderful Cape Ann Museum, Brewery and distillery tours and of course great eats! All good rainy day escapes or just to try! We accept well behaved dogs... the smaller and quieter the better- let's talk about yours. Mine are perfect :) Dog deposit for cleaning. Dog friendly cove is a huge plus! Please note we rent by the week Saturday to Saturday

Fabulous location, terrific view, lovely apartment. Everything perfect! We highly recommend this owner and her property and would return in the future if we could. 5 stars on all is not enough should be able to give more as this place deserves it.

Ah, we are so happy you enjoyed your stay. We loved having you as well.
We are biased, but find the perfect balance between peaceful and relaxing and fun! We hope you return, soon!
We absolutely loved our stay! Alix and John are fantastic hosts—welcoming, helpful, and full of great recommendations. Thanks to them, we enjoyed great restaurants, a local band and scored a Groupon for a whale watch. The home is beautifully decorated with charming coastal touches that make it feel like the perfect beach escape. The location couldn’t be better—just a short walk to Lanesville Cove and an easy drive to all of Cape Ann’s highlights. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay and would happily return!

Awe, thank you! We loved having Joel and Christine and RJ. The kind of guests that become friends, after all they share our love of the all things Gloucester - and Lanesville. Spectacular sunsets, great food, and chillaxing among the many highlights. Fingers crossed they come visit again soon!
Location is great. Ocean view from back window and deck. We were here in October so not much time outside on deck but still a great view from inside. Lots of room on main floor for relaxing. House overall has very comfy vibe. All basic needs provided for kitchen, bath, and bed. Nice little bakery/deli down the street and a liquor store too. Hosts were great. Super kind and friendly. We had a nice chat with them shortly after checking in. Will definitely come back.
Great quiet location to relax. Wonderful owners and hidden gem. We had a wonderful vacation in Gloucester.

We loved meeting you both! My blood pressure goes down 10 points every time we cross the 'bridge' - agreed a great place to relax especially in the fall. I know you are adventurers and may not pass this way again soon, but I hope you do. Wonderful guests, thank you.
My family of four (including two kids) enjoyed this spacious and comfortable rental with easy access to so many great spots. We had a lovely time and Alix was so kind and communicative. Really great experience!

We are happy you enjoyed a relaxing week, despite the rain! Sometimes it is nice just to sit back and tide pool or finish a good book-sometimes the rain is cozy too! We love hosting kind (and very clean) guests, hope you and the kids will be back soon!
The property is located in a wonderful spot a stone's throw away from Lane Cove and a local cafe and package store. It has a comfortable vibe in the decorating and furnishings. We have a wonderful vacation touring Cape Ann. We especially appreciated the pet friendly policy of the host.

Thank you! We loved hosting you, no offense most especially the cutest, best puppy ever. (Hope mine aren’t on line) We are blessed to be so near to a place that humans and fur kids can enjoy together.
We love having a nice cafe and Package/General store with in short walking distance, makes for a relaxing vacation- don’t worry about forgetting anything! Hope
To see you again

Thank you! You were ideal guests, just what any host hopes for! I am so glad you appreciated our little slice of heaven as much as we do. Please come back soon, ya hear!
Alix' property is located, in my opinion, in the best part of Gloucester: quiet area with ocean view. Alix was very hands-on meeting us when we checked in and answering our all too frequent questions. The property gave us plenty of space to have visitors during our stay.
This property gave me a reprieve and a place to relax while working in the area.
The house is bright and sunny, decorated in a nautical theme with a little dog theme thrown in. Very nicely done. The view from the back table and porch were stunning.
Very comfortable seating areas (yes, areas) and nicely stocked kitchen.
Walking distance to water, cafe and beach. Very convenient! Close to all the tourist spots too.

Guests like Laurie make hosting fun. We are fortunate to be able to share our special place. With great people. It is especially gratifying when others enjoy the casual, comfy vibe of Lanesville as much as we do - and ya, the down cushions are cozy. Hope you come back!
I am hesitant to share what a great place this is as others will find out. The house itself is not what makes it so special but truly its location. First off, you can literally walk to everything from your front door. Beach, quarries, state park, restaurants, stores and more. The sunset’s from the balcony are amazing but what really sets it apart are the neighbors themselves. I have traveled all over the world but have never encountered such lovely people. I had people stop by on several occasions to say hi, pet my dogs or invite me over to enjoy a glass of wine by their fire. This place is absolutely perfect and just what I needed. And the owners, they are amazing too! I will definitely be back.

Aww, thanks Michelle! You and the fur kids are always welcome. You fit right into the special. Waem vibe of Lanesville. We fell in love with the village too for it’s natural beauty and connection to trails and water but also it’s people- and the lazy side of me loves being able to stay put and just pop over for wine. Smoked fish and maybe a coffee. Like you I have mixed emotions- I want to have people enjoy it…. Just not too many! ;)
We stayed here in 2019 and were so excited to find the listing again four years later. The property is pretty and airy and the kitchen is large and well-stocked with implements and condiments. The flowers on the porch create a fairyland with hummingbirds and ocean views to boot.
A package store a couple of doors down magically had exactly the groceries we needed when we needed them. A few doors further down is a bakery and sandwich shop. A block away in the opposite direction was a small but perfect playground for our active 7-year-old.
Alexandra is an excellent, responsive host. On both visits she has gone above and beyond the expected to make our experience as wonderful as possible. She’s great.

We were so excited to have you back, that’s a true compliment! It is true the LPS has everything- it’s really uncanny. Love the marinated, smoked fish!
Your son has grown into such a cool little guy, no surprise! Next time maybe a whale watch, book the wolf Sanctuary for sure. Thanks for making hosting fun, love meeting nice, fun loving guests!
(Flowers change each year- this year the hummers have been a bonus)!
Alix is very communicative and was there to welcome my puppy and me on arrival and when we departed. Generous with her time and snacks too! This is a duplex (side by side) cove cottage in an older building on a busy main street, but beach chic decorated and it works great for a week getaway. On the Lanes Cove side of Gloucester so closer to downtown Rockport than downtown Gloucester. Good location to explore all of Cape Ann (from Ipswich to Manchester by the Sea and everything in between). The bed is upstairs in a dormered loft area (no door) and was very comfortable. The bathroom is not on the same floor as the loft area/bed. Small deck out back you can see the cove//water from so short walk to GREAT sunsets. Safe off-street parking is on the grass on side of building. Village-feel, cozy coffee cafe (opens at 8am) with breakfast and lunch sandwiches/homemade pastries about 5 doors down, and 3 doors down is a liquor/small grocer. Safe for single woman and her puppy to walk around and there are beautiful sights of coves/ocean/bays/boats no matter where you walk. You need to drive to restaurants for dinner and most activities (and park as a non-resident if you do not have your own resident pass) although a nice small cove beach is about .4 mile walk down the road. Perfect location if you are an active person. Lots to do on Cape Ann!

We love meeting ‘good dogs’ and people and have been blessed to host some great ones this year. Vi and Simba are no exception. We are pleased to have many fur friends rebook with us, good to see old friends. Hope to see you back!
Many don’t realize our home is an 1800s fishing shack as it has been completely remodeled over the years- it has an open floor plan and huge rooms. The bedroom upstairs is as big as the last place I stayed, and the view of the Cove is spectacular! Despite its large size our house is best for singles or families but not great for large groups as it is an open floor plan with bath, full laundry, and kitchen on the ground floor.
Glad you enjoyed the amazing sunsets and above views as much as we do. We spend most of time on the deck or lounging on the comfy down couches, or swimming with the pups.
Cape Ann has much to offer I am still finding treasures- though our place is so restful I find myself never leaving- hiking quarries across the street or getting grilled items a few feet away from the General store. We need to get out more, thanks for the tips Vi! I need to get back to the Wolves and take in more concerts, and try Talise.
We felt super comfortable at this little place overlooking the cove. Great hosts and a wonderful spot for walks and sunsets. We had our dogs and we were made to feel so comfortable with them including dog bowls and treats! Our hosts did everything they could to help us feel at home. We would return!
Our stay was lovely! Lanesville is a very friendly place, the local area was full of fun ocean and art opportunities, and the owners were extremely nice and friendly helpful folks. We had a great time!

We enjoyed your company too. I hope someday soon to some see your little piece of paradise. It is wonderful to meet new people and share ideas- especially when we share a love of Cape Ann. Thanks again!
Lanesville Cove is a special place to be and there is a view from the outside deck and the inside living room. The kitchen is very well equipped. The hosts are very helpful and were very welcoming to our dog. We hope to visit again next year.
We are delighted with Alix's Lanes Cove retreat. We felt welcome and at home the moment we stepped in. Alix and John were there to greet us with champagne, fresh fruit, and helpful local information. Thank you Alix. It was just what we needed.
This was a great property for our annual week visiting family in nearby Annisquam. The hosts & decor are warm and inviting, the kitchen large and well equipped. Lanes Cove sunsets are visible from the deck, or if you want the full view, just a few steps away.

It was our pleasure to have such a wonderful family stay with us. Glad you enjoyed our decor and 'cooking' kitchen too. Wish I could claim those amazing sunsets-I never get sick of them!
My 2 teens and I had a wonderful visit to Cape Ann again this year and having this rental with its great location was a big piece of our experience. Alexandra was incredibly kind and friendly and offered many suggestions for places we hadn’t already experienced. In truth, overall it was a great experience— Lanesville is cozy, friendly, and the cove (especially at night...sunsets!!!) were breathtaking. My only complaint is in regards to the level of cleanliness of the couches. They were very comfy but 2/4 were either stained with dog urine or just dirty/stained. I have a big dog and have stayed at many dog friendly places but the odor from urine is different and it was strong at first. In all fairness, I did not complain because 1) there was nothing Alexandra could have done at that point; & 2) I knew going in that this was a dog friendly rental and as such, it is one of the risks one takes. I did use vinegar to remedy the situation and it did help. In terms of the other couch, I draped a comforter over it and it then it was fine. Overall, this rental was a great home base for us.

Hi Karen, It was lovely to meet you and the kids. I am glad you had a good time. However, I am really disappointed you did not say something if you were not 100% happy. Further it is frustrating to hear about it in a review. We take great care to make sure everything is spotless. We use professional cleaners and I clean too (the old belt and suspenders approach). There have been dogs in the place, including mine but with white canvas pottery barn sofas and slipcovers I should have noticed. I am sorry and perplexed! I need to know if we missed something- for everyone's sake please let landlords know. I will be in touch as you left some kids things and also to find out what you are speaking of! (I asked the people who are renting now and the cleaners and they did notice anything). I just want to fix it if anything is wrong. Thanks again for staying with us.

Wonderful!
A great little house! Lots of space and comfortable atmosphere. It can be a challenge to find a nice place when you’re traveling with dogs and a baby, but this place certainly fit the bill! Excellent location with a beautiful view and fantastic property manager. Highly recommend!

Just wonderful! Comfortable, clean and welcoming. A true “home-away”. We hope to be back!
My husband and I stayed here with our dog for 4 days. The hosts gave us a warm welcome (including cocktails) and told us some in and outs of Lanesville. We could walk to 2 coves very easily to collect sea glass and watch incredible sunsets. The local bigger beaches alternated days for unleashed dog fun (in October). We took a day to shop in Rockport and grab a bite in Gloucester. The house had everything we needed and more! Loved the feel of Lanesville. We will be back.

Thank you so much for your kind words. One of the best parts of renting our home is meeting nice people like you, and lovable Spenser. It was nice to hear the place was 'even better and bigger' than you though. That is our goal- to over deliver. We're glad you were able to enjoy some special places around Lanesville while hiking around the quarries, collecting sea glass and of course enjoying good eats and beaches. Though in four days you barely scratched the service -so we hope you return soon. Perhaps we can share a glass of wine with the pups while watching the sunset!

Clean and extremely well-furnished.
We found our rental to be clean and comfortable and with more than enough room. Alexandra was delightful and accommodating. She uses all natural cleaning products and scent-free detergents and this is exactly what we are used to at home. Thnx to Alexandra for making our week long stay so delightful and possible. We so enjoyed Gloucester and its sights and restaurants and would love to return to this rental in Lanesville. Don Delmore

Thank you for joining us! We are glad you enjoyed your stay, sounds like the class was just what the doctor ordered. Hope to see you back for part II next year. We are 'tree huggers' too and love all things natural. Next year we are thinking of adding the commercial composting to our recycling. Please let us know what we can do so next time we can earn that fifth star, we strive for it!
About the host
Hosted by Alexandra W Turner
John and I purchased this house because we love Lanesville so much! We vacationed here for years, as we like the casual vibe and the mix of friendly, interesting people from artists to lobster men and scientists. The natural beauty and lots of open space close to an intimate village make this a special place. This is not fancy, we were going for beach cottage when we fixed up and furnished our home. We tried to make our place comfortable, and clean and hope you don't work too much. Though you could with internet available. Well stocked with games and beach reading. We really want you to enjoy it as much as we do. We have our fur kids, so we understand good and bad dogs. We have one of each and will allow yours but expect you to keep your fur kids and real ones on a short leash.
Why they chose this property
We live in North Central Mass and getting to our families place in Falmouth (the other Cape was getting to daunting with traffic). We wanted an escape that we could enjoy that was not over run with summer people. This place is well situated close to everything, with parking, very comfortable and you don't have to fret about it. Close enough not to spend a day getting there but it was 'away' enough to be really relaxing.
What makes this property unique
Size and comfort is our forte. We want you to really enjoy it so we stock up and leave plenty of room for stretching out. The best part of the Cove is the warm sheltered water to dabble in. It is not the gorgeous albeit popular beach like Good Harbor or Cranes. Those are close enough to go to, but at the end of the day I take my glass of wine and go sit on the rocks and watch what National Geographic referred to as one of the best places anywhere to watch the sunset. Kayak magazine wrote up the cove too as a 'best of' place to set out. I also enjoy walking around the 'block' ocean side of course-the whole shoreline from the breakwater is conservation and people go sit up to look over Hampton and watch the fireworks Saturday and Wednesday nights. Feeling ambitious, kayak straight across to Wingarsheek. Lanesville is like going back in time, very relaxing.
