Bala is well-known for its great watersports, such as fishing, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, and whitewater rafting, and it also serves as the headquarters for the narrow gauge Bala Lake Railway. The town itself is rich in history, with a variety of interesting shops, inns, and restaurants, as well as a historical Town Walk. This is a mecca for climbing, walking, mountain biking, and many other outdoor activities, surrounded on one side by the wonderful Berwyn Mountains and on the other by the beautiful Eryri (Snowdonia) Mountain Range.
