About this property

Host & Stay | The Wasa Penthouse

Summary:
Located in the heart of Berwick-upon-Tweed, The Wasa Penthouse is a striking three bedroom apartment with plenty of style. Spanning the top floor of a recently converted 18th century chapel, this penthouse is bound to impress! Sleeping up to six guests, The Wasa Penthouse is perfect for coastal getaways with friends and seaside staycations with family.

The Space:
The Wasa Penthouse is named after an early 17th century Swedish warship which sank on its maiden voyage. It is now preserved and has become one of Sweden's most popular tourist attractions. Pronounced Vasa, the penthouse celebrates the links between Britain and Sweden where the apartment owners spend half the year in each country.

Inside the apartment, you’ll find an open plan kitchen, living and dining area. Sleek and modern, the kitchen has a range of soft-close units with granite worktops. Fully equipped for self-catering stays, the integrated appliances include a five-element induction hob, a double oven and microwave, a dishwasher and an American-style fridge-freezer.

The dining area and the living space both comfortably seat six making them perfect socialising and relaxing with your loved ones. You’ll find a smart TV, a blu-ray DVD player, DVDs and a library of fiction and non-fiction books in the living area so you can unwind during your stay.

The large master bedroom features a double bed, two double wardrobes, a smart TV, a sofa and a desk. The second bedroom is also a double and the third has twin single beds which can be linked to make a double.

All the rooms in The Wasa Penthouse benefit from incredible exposed beams. The Velux windows offer panoramic views over the old town of Berwick, across the River Tweed, and down the Northumberland coast to Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle.

Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during bookings. For this reason, we require all of our guests to transfer a £250.00 Damage Deposit (subject to a £10.00 administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver for £25.00 which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.

Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.

There is free, on site parking for one vehicle.

The Neighborhood:
The Wasa Penthouse is located in the coastal town of Berwick-upon-Tweed at the most northerly tip of Northumberland. Just 3 miles from the Scottish Border, it boasts long stretching sandy shores and a stunning riverside. Take the time to unwind with a day at the beach or enjoy a walk by the river.

Berwick-upon-Tweed has lots of events and festivities on offer too. There are annual festivals for film, music, food and drinks as well as entertainment throughout the year at the theatre and cinema. You’ll have your pick of restaurants, cafes and pubs as the town has an array of great places to choose from.

There will be plenty of history for you to uncover as you can visit Berwick Barracks, The Main Guard and the town’s old courtroom. The town also has a number of inspiring art galleries on offer including The Granary Gallery, Berwick Museum and Art Gallery and Dockside Gallery.

Getting Around:
Berwick-upon-Tweed is within 45 minutes’ drive time of other popular Northumberland destinations such as Alnwick, Alnmouth, Seahouses and Bamburgh so it’s perfectly located for exploring.

Berwick-upon-Tweed train station is a short 10-minute walk from The Wasa Penthouse with regular services to Newcastle and Edinburgh as well as London Kings Cross.

There are also a number of bus routes through the town. Hop on the X15 Arriva bus which travels to Newcastle and has stops in Belford, Alnwick and Morpeth. If you’d like to visit Craster, Seahouses, Bamburgh, Amble or Alnmouth, the X18 Arriva bus will take you there.

Lovely apartment
The apartment was bigger than anticipated from the photos. The ceilings were higher. The kitchen was well stocked which was important for us as we stay in to eat. It was also nice and warm which was great because the weather wasn't! We enjoyed the arty ornaments and pictures. They made it very homely. It was also in a great location for going out for an early morning coffee. The snags were the sewerage smells in both bathrooms which got much worse following the rain. Also, the bath water was not very warm at night. Thanks.
