Response from VrboOwner on 12 July 2025
Alessandra was unlike any other guest I have experienced in three years of hosting satisfied people in my home.
She contacted me after booking to request personal information. I explained, per Vrbo guidelines, that this wasn’t appropriate to share before arrival.
She didn’t inform me she’d be arriving at 1:20am with heavy luggage needing assistance. Throughout her stay, she required frequent help with planning and transport, despite having a car, which I provided willingly.
She reported issues with the internet and TV, but both were functioning. I verified the Wi-Fi and TV in her room with her.
I advised her to let me know if she was cold and turned on heating up immediately when she asked, though she remained dissatisfied.
Despite my efforts, her tone became increasingly demanding and unkind, making me uncomfortable in my own home.
I helped her look for alternative accommodation when it became clear she was unhappy. She left and later messaged me via Vrbo accusing me of misleading her and asked why I hadn’t cancelled, though it was her responsibility to do so.
I take pride in my property and in caring for guests. I did everything I could to help Alessandra feel comfortable, but she chose to leave and was not respectful in return.
About the host
Hosted by Abigail Howkins
I am a peace-loving quiet person who has a busy active life. I am often out and about at work or taking some trips so you will see me and I am happy to chat and share local knowledge but you will also have the place comfortably to yourself.
Why they chose this property
I love this area for the semi-rural vibe that is still close to all the amenities of the city. It is also just beside the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park which is great for outdoor activities. The village itself is active and friendly but also peaceful and quiet.
