About this property

South-western edge of Dartmoor National Park, On Tamar Coast to Coast Way

A glorious barn converted to cottage, that’s as stunning on the inside as it’s surroundings on the outside. This is one for lovers of the good life, a countryside escape away from it all. Set in the remarkably pretty Tamar Valley, Driftwood Cottage is the quintessentially picture perfect retreat away from it all. With only the sounds of birds and owls for company.

Introduction:
Approached via a half mile winding country driveway and etched upon a sylvan backdrop with buzzards wheeling overhead. A 200-year-old barn reinterpreted – This is a wonderful escape for couples, families and friends alike. The dog friendly retreat affords a slice of country living on modern terms.
The 200-year-old barn once served the local silver and copper mines but has undergone a sensitive restoration to offer luxury self-catering escapes.
Rustic and warm by nature, Driftwood has character bursting right through this picturesque cottage. Windows frame views over the salt marsh meadows and the self-contained garden looks towards Cornwall. Nestled into the South-Western edge of 368 square miles of Dartmoor National Park. There are walking trails in abundance and the cottage is set on the "Tamara Way" coast to coast path.

Inside:
Step inside and you will discover a warm and welcoming homestay. Recently refurbished throughout. A work of art for artists and lovers of magical encounters.
Honey-hued beams and hand crafted furnishings are a celebration of a magical fairyland. Modern artistry shines through this luxury West Devon Cottage.
Original beams, limewash paints and colours have been used to restore original stonework built by stonemasons hundreds of years ago. Stone and pine boarded floors covered in Persian rugs warm to the feet to keep up the original country character.

Living and eating:
The open plan living, kitchen and dining area is just lovely. The far wall is home to the kitchen, with everything you need. Compact yet housing everything to create meals for you and yours, you'll find a hob and oven, 12 place dishwasher, fridge with freezer, microwave and coffee Cafetiere as well as all the other equipment. Breakfast bar and dining table for 6. In addition, there's a washing machine under the stairs.
To the front making the most of the views across the river to Cornwall and The National Trust House Cotehele, lies a comfortable sofa and lots of cushions facing a 75” smart TV for those special evenings in. Peaceful retreat
We had a very relaxing 3 night stay at Driftwood Cottage. Didn't manage to get out on the paddleboards as tides and weather conspired against us but read books and went on some lush walks

Why they chose this property

Amidst Devon's embrace
By Jose Lavelle

Amidst Devon's embrace, where riverside whispers flow,
Lies the Enchanted Wilderness, where nature's secrets grow.
A tapestry of wildflowers dance upon the land,
As if painted by brushstrokes of an artist's gentle hand.

The riverside meanders, its melody serene,
Caressing the hearts of all who venture to this scene.
Where farmland stretches wide, with gentle rolling hills,
They whisper tales of history, and dreams that time fulfills.

Beneath the ancient oaks, where tranquility resides,
The Enchanted Wilderness enchants, with all its hidden tides.
Birdsongs fill the air, a symphony so sweet,
As sunlight dances softly, shining at nature's feet.

Devon's haven of peace, where wildlife freely roam,
Where dreams are born midst wildflowers that gracefully comb.
The Enchanted Wilderness, a place where spirits thee,
Find solace in its embrace, as nature sets them free.

So come, wanderers and dreamers, to this enchanted shore,
Where wildflowers sway and riverside stories lore.
Let Devon's wilderness, with its magic untold,
Embrace your weary heart, and enchant your very soul.
