The cozy cottage was very cute! Everything was spotless. The beds were comfortable, though we were there in the middle of winter and the two bedrooms on the far side of the house were very cold!! The second night, we built a fire in the fireplace, which made us very comfortable as we visited in the evening, however, when we went up to bed the upstairs was quite chilly because the thermostat is on the fireplace mantle. The heater in one bedroom never turned on. Also, there are lots of stairs, so it may be difficult for people with mobility issues, such as my elderly mother. The location is very near Bath with a grocery store close enough to walk to and a place to park the car. We had everything we needed during our stay.

Comfortable stay

We had a wonderful 4 nights in Bath in this adorable cottage. The beds were extremely comfortable and kitchen was well equipped. We drove into downtown Bath a few times, it was a bit of a walk with kids, and used it as a home base to explore the area (Stonehenge, Wookey Caves). As Americans we found the front door opening directly onto the road a bit nerve wracking so families with small children just be sure an adult exits first. There was a strong musty smell but we assume that was just the nature of an old building and it didn’t bother us after a while. Just note there is no dryer. It doesn’t list one on the amenities but I missed it. Overall this was a wonderful spot and I would heartedly recommend.

The Harvey family purchased this grade II listed Hatfield Cottage in 2021 as a bolthole for them to return to when visiting family and friends in Bath. As soon as they saw this stunning 18th-century cottage they fell in love with it’s charm and character, as well as the handy location just outside the city centre. When they’re not at Hatfield Cottage the family live overseas but welcome visitors to share in Bath’s delights. We hope that you will enjoy the cottage and Bath!
