Region: The ultimate in “year-round” appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.
Town: Chesterfield, the historic market town that serves as the Peak District's gateway, has a lot to offer visitors. The town's 14th-century church is known for its "Crooked Spire," which twists strangely from its actual centre, and the town's regular hectic market days are great for visiting the many diverse speciality shops and stalls that line the old Market Hall and lovely Shambles beyond. Queens Park, with its lake, footpaths, and summer bandstand, as well as a museum and theatre, are all located in the town. The Elizabethan Hardwick Hall, which overlooks the exquisite gardens and walled courtyards of the grounds, is still spectacular today, with its 6 majestic towers elaborately monogramed with Bess of Hardwick's initials.

My father (92 years old), my sister and I stayed for 2 wonderful weeks catching up with local family. This house is clean and comfortable, central heating for comfort, well equipped kitchen, separate dining and lounge. 4 bedrooms sleeping up to 8 adults meant we had our own rooms, the 2 baths and 3 WC's were perfect for our needs. Local chinese takeaway was surprisingly good, and a Tesco only minutes away for groceries. The location is central for shopping and dining and of course, visiting family. As Aussie's we are used to personal space and this home has this in abundance. Parking for up to 3 vehicles was convenient too. Stay here - you will not be disappointed.
