A WELCOME RETURN TO OUR PORTFOLIO, an ideal couples retreat
Jacks Hideaway, one of 3 luxury pods with private Hot Tub and panoramic views of the surrounding Galloway countryside provides the ideal couples retreat. Located about a mile from the picturesque small rural town of Gatehouse of Fleet, the town provides numerous opportunities for eating out, small shops, a delightful and testing nine hole golf course, tennis courts, river and loch fishing. As the area is within the Galloway Forest Park, nominated Britain's first Dark Sky Park, a clear night will present amazing opportunities for star gazing with the naked eye.
Included in your stay is complimentary use of the onsite communal wood fired Sauna and Cold Plunge Pool, where you can relax and take in the stunning scenery, spectacular sunsets and on a clear night amazing star gazing.
There are numerous sandy beaches and rocky coves for bathing, windsurfing and sailing within a short drive, the nearest being about 3 miles away; sea fishing and horse riding are also available nearby; the Forestry Commission 7Stanes mountain biking trail at Kirroughtree is around 30 minutes' drive away; and the area is a haven for wildlife, with regular sightings of deer, red squirrels and red kites. There are extensive walks and mountain bike rides over hills, past lochs, through forestry and down the valley from the doorstep.
The Nearby harbour town of Kirkcudbright, known as ‘The Artist Town' due to its connections to the ‘Glasgow Boys and Girls', is a thriving centre for arts and crafts and is home to numerous private galleries and the public Kirkcudbright Galleries which hosts a wide range of exhibitions. The town has a good range of independent shops and a wide choice of places to eat out, a community run swimming pool and an 18 hole golf course with numerous others within easy reach. The town is also home to the Dark Sky Gin Distillery, next to which you will discover the Dark Sky Planetarium, a state of the art, interactive space themed experience which is well worth a visit and learn about our night skies. Whilst the nearby Station House Cookery School offers various courses throughout the year. If History is your thing the NTS property Broughton House home of the artist E.A Hornel along with its Japanese inspired garden is located on the High Street, with MacLellan's Castle holding court over the town.
The small town of Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town is a must for all bookworms, both young and old. To the east is the popular market town of Castle Douglas, with its vibrant high street of unique independent shops, cafes and restaurants, theatre which also doubles as a cinema, swimming pool and golf course. NTS Threave Estate is located on the edge of the town with Threave House & Gardens and Threave Castle all worth a visit. Slightly further afield is Galloway Activity Centre which offers both land and water-based activities on the shores of Loch Ken.
