A week in October

Our stay at The Old Stables arose from our original booking at another cottage being withdrawn (the owners had sold it). Inspire Stays were very diligent and helpful in suggesting alternatives and The Old Stables thus became our destination. The cottage itself is very quietly located along a narrow and winding lane, which thankfully has little traffic. Accommodation is comfortable clean and stylish. The outlook is attractive, especially from the upper floor. Equipment is extensive and in early October, we especially appreciated the electric blanket on the bed and the underfloor heating to the larger shower room. The owner called shortly after our arrival, to bid us welcome and the basket of foods and wine was a nice touch.

Quiet peaceful country cottage

We really enjoyed our stay at The Old Stables. The beds were very comfortable and everything we needed was provided. The hosts were helpful and the setting is idyllic with pheasants and wildlife all around. Close to lots of forest walks and to local pubs and to the pretty village of Petworth. We were at the cottage for almost three weeks and it felt like home when we left. Very central for a visit to West Sussex and all that it has to offer.

Peaceful break in the countryside

We enjoyed a few days staying in the cottage with character in a quiet and beautiful hamlet. The outside connection is good enough to work effectively from the cottage. There are good local pubs where we enjoyed eating, opportunities for nice walks and Petworth Place National Trust is close by.

Great place and location

We would highly recommend this place. The owners were very welcoming and friendly. The accommodation is lovely and the location is absolutely beautiful - if you like quiet and rural. It’s very well equipped, very clean, and thoughtfully designed and laid out. We enjoyed going for walks and playing tennis on the owners court. There were lots of lovely welcoming touches waiting for us when we arrived.

This lovely cottage was just what the four of us needed. Located down a lovely country lane, the Stables is close to many attractions-and good pubs. The kitchen is well-appointed, with sn excellent coffee maker! This is perfect for those who love the English countryside. Our hosts, Nicky and Peter, were most welcoming and helpful.

A lovely Christmas Stay!

We spent 5 nights at the Old Stables to be close to family over the Christmas period. The Old Stables is lovely; well presented, comfortable and had everything we needed to host a small family Christmas lunch. The owners were very accommodating and were on hand to help with any additional requirements (such as an extra dining chair!) There was a generous welcome pack on arrival which was much appreciated. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again, especially during the summer as the surrounding countryside is beautiful.

Lovely Cottage

This cottage had 2 double bedrooms and 2 shower rooms. It was very comfortable ,clean and well equipped. The weather was warm and sunny so we made a lot of use of outdoor seating area to relax and dine. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. The surrounding area is so peaceful, with lots of trees. The South Downs is nearby, as are several gardens and stately homes to visit. We had a wonderful relaxing week. Thank you.

Beautiful West Sussex Cottage

We had a fantastic stay at the Old Stables in West Sussex. The cottage was beautiful. Very well equipped and Nicky and Peter were the perfect hosts. The welcome basket including butter, eggs, bread and a bottle of red was very much appreciated after our long journey. The location is excellent for exploring the surrounding villages and trying out the top class local pubs. Nicky and Peter have prepared a tourist brochure for the cottage and we were not disappointed by their recommendations of places to visit: Midhurst, Petworth, Amberley, Arundel...to name but a few. The cottage has a lovely terrace garden, which we enjoyed for dinner and after-dinner board games. I would very highly recommend this accommodation.
