About this property
Melin Y Bont - a dog that sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms
Step into four storeys of light filled tranquillity via steps up to the staging decking that wraps around the windmill. Here you will find a generous open-plan living space with a hand-made curved kitchen… it's ‘wow' from the moment you walk in. The symphony of thick, rustic boards, cast iron radiators, rough painted stone walls and modern hi-tech luxury works well. Amidst soaring beams is a little viewing window and French doors opening onto the decking outside. Carry out a breakfast tray with coffee and breathe in the views over farmland and towards the sea which are seriously beautiful! Breakfasts will never be the same again. Or dine at the large table in the open-plan space and then retreat to the comfy pastel coloured armchairs. The galley kitchen is close to hand, well-lit and equipped it has everything you'll need to refuel rampaging offspring and their parents. A beautifully crafted wooden staircase is ready to wind you upstairs to three beautifully considered bedrooms. First is the double bedroom, a delicious nest amid original features. A swish bathroom sits neatly next to it within the curved walls. The stairs narrows upwards to a twin bedroom dressed with pastel colours so you can sleep peacefully on perfectly ironed white cotton under the chunky beam. A bathroom is around the curved corner. You get white walls to soak up the light and fantastic views of the rolling countryside. Up again and saving the best until last, go into a tangle of timbers to the lookout with its wild views all the way across fields for miles. Here is a perfect lofty retreat with a king bed and massive beams spanning above – this is the place to be. Holing up in bad weather is sheer pleasure here. For the finer days, the balcony is a treat for morning coffee or a glass of something special. The hard working Windmill machinery from the early days of 1825 lies below in the basement and provides a hub too for the modern working aspects of the Windmill. A washing machine sits ready for the beach soaked clothes and wet suits can linger to dry. It has direct access to the outside garden so sandy toes can be sorted out before heading upwards. The Windmill setting is magical: a vast sky hangs overhead, cows graze in the fields and the sea in the distance beckons. Kids and dogs will love free-ranging in the large fenced garden with the wildflowers. Grown-ups can fire up the barbecue and enjoy a Sundowner.

Amazing property - a beautifully restored wind and water mill in a lovely location. Three generations in the family plus our wonderful grandog had a grat time- 2 years to 65! Everything from kitchen / beds / showers / baths were just perfect. Cannot recommend highly ennough.
Excellent, a fun place to stay. Plenty of space and full of character . The weather was not brilliant, so it was great to have plenty of space to do things as a family. Lovely location, great views and nothing seemed to be more than 30 minutes away. Lovely beaches nearby and great walks. The train station at Ty Croes was very handy. A few minor things did not work properly but nothing major. One bonus was that there was a barbecue there, despite all the information saying there wasn't.
The windmill is a wonderful place to stay! Its location is a 3 minute drive to a local shop, and 5 minutes to a beach. The surrounding area is quiet and peaceful, only broken by the RAF jets chorus from around 8am until about 5.30, which I loved anyway. The beds were changed but the property wasn’t fully checked, the fridge & all crockery were filthy from the previous tenants, and food was left in the freezer (not the end of the world). Please note that the cleaning journal where you leave reviews has many pages ripped out…..Bring anti-slip shoes for the stairs, and ensure the fittest are in the top room, as even for me it was tiring - you cannot carry luggage upstairs so unload downstairs and carry clothes etc up instead. The internet wasn’t great, so keep in mind to pre-load programmes onto pads for children, also the kids channels aren’t accessible on the tv in the front room either. The decking around the base of the windmill is in a dangerous state sadly (I work in construction and civil engineering) with broken boards, chunks missing and exposed nails and screws - this needs addressing immediately! Replace with composite and it’ll hold its colour and last 30 years. If you visit PLEASE don’t let children or anyone over 12 stone walk around the decking, it is a huge drop below and I’m not exaggerating when I say it is THAT dangerous. The windmill has a nice plot of land to the front which is ideal for children to play, just remember there is a watercourse to the rear.
The Windmill had everything you could possibly need it was very peaceful. And spacious the outside space was very well maintained the exterior of the windmill could do with a bit of cosmetic TLC but otherwise it was a fab stay and is also not far from restaurants, shops etc I would definitely stay again
