About this property

Cute Downtown Apartment, Walk to University, Shops & More!

This cute apartment is centrally located 1 block from Missoula's river-front trails, 3 blocks from downtown & the University of Montana campus, convenient to the I-90 interstate exchange, and within an easy walk to Missoula's best coffee shops, restaurants, theaters, and music venues.

We like that we don't have to drive to hike - our neighborhood is at the confluence of the North Hills, Clark Fork River, Crazy Canyon, Mount Sentinel, and Mount Jumbo trail systems - or to fish - we're just off the confluence of Rattlesnake Creek and the Clark Fork River where the native cutthroat congregate. We are an easy walk over either of the two pedestrian footbridges, a short river stroll to happy hour or concerts at the Top Hat & Wilma, and a (too!) close for a cone of ice cream at either Big Dipper or Sweet Peaks. This location also boasts spectacular views of Mount Jumbo, Mount Sentinel, and the Hellgate Canyon.

This apartment is part of a duplex - we live upstairs and are available for advice about what to do and where to go. If you decide to book this property, you will enter through the main door that leads to a small entry way. Our door is on the left and yours is on the right. This keeps it easy should you have any questions or concerns.

The owners were easy to communicate with as they live on-site upstairs. This was not a problem for us- they were very quiet and were respectful and friendly to us. We had our own apartment-like access to the lower half of the home. The home is supplied well with the needed everyday essentials. While we didn’t cook much, the kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pans, cookware, etc. The neighborhood was quiet with an occasional train whistle. We had concerns about no AC, but we never had an issue with warm temps in the home even with temps into the upper 90’s. It stayed cool in the home. The location was great for our trip reaching river access, parks and the University of Montana campus. We were able to bike to a number of areas in town instead of driving. We would definitely return.

This place was OK. There are a few problems or things that should be highlighted for people to know. My first concern was when I got there I realized I hadn’t received a message for my code. Usually you get a message for your code the night before you get to the unit. When I called her, she said she had sent me it in November, that’s when I booked the July trip. It concerns me that the code is the same from November through July. This place will be good for a few days, but I was there for two weeks. There was no place for me to unpack. No dresser or shelves or anything and just a few hangers in the closet. Not a fan of living out of my suitcase for two weeks. It also has a no shoes policy with concrete floors. Bring your slippers. Additionally, the location is very loud. There’s a train that runs behind the building at all hours of the night blaring its horn as it goes through, the white noise and earplugs did not block the noise. It’s also below and beside the other unit and you can hear every single sound, water running, people running around jumping talking etc.

Shannon, I'm sorry the unit didn't live up to your expectations. We try to provide the best service and it unfortunately wasn't that. Thank you for mentioning a dresser - this was on my list of things to do, so I appreciate the suggestion. And I'm sorry about the train. This is something we all deal with here and I feel bad the sound machine and the ear plugs weren't enough. If there is something else you think we should be doing, please let me know. And you're right - we do live above and try our hardest to be quiet in the mornings and evenings. With a seven year old boy, it can be a little challenging :) Again, I'm very sorry to hear your experience wasn't great. I will go ahead and refund you a night on us. Thank you for your suggestions. Warmly, Meg

About the host

Host profile image
We are a couple in our mid-30s who loves living downtown. We enjoy running on trails out our front door, walking to downtown restaurants, floating on the river, hiking, fishing, and more. We love where we live and love where we work and can't see us living anywhere else than this university town.

Why they chose this property

We bought this home because of the location. It's not on a main street but couldn't be more centrally located. It's rare for us to use our car if we want to eat, drink, and play in our vibrant downtown. We are less than a mile from the University of Montana and walk to the UM to watch football & basketball games and listen to concerts.
