Serenity Villa is a Perfect Quiet Island Retreat with a great hostess
I highly recommend the Serenity Villa on Provo hosted by Shirlett Deane, she is a fantastic host who checked in with us throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed, answered questions about the island / she went above and beyond at several points in our stay; especially when there was confusion or mix-ups at the airport and with our rental car.
About the setup, it really is a large villa with two adjoining rentals that don't share walls... the adjoining unit has its own entrance and parking. The villa is as advertised with extensive landscaped grounds and on a part of the island that is for the most part quiet, with occasional bucolic noises like dogs barking (local potcakes are awesome). This is a quiet residential part of a West Indies island where you will not be bothered by anyone. There is a little bit of airplane and road noise occasionally - the planes do pass over the villa while taking off.... but 90% of the time it is silent and all you hear are the tropical breezes lightly blowing.
The salt water canal, huge dock (fits big boats), back patio with hammock, swings and fire pit were where we spent half our time! It was shaded almost all day. Also sea kayak, boogie boards and bikes included. The above ground pool was good too and is cool and refreshing.
Nearby salt water lake has wildlife and you can snorkel right in the canal.
The bedrooms were spacious and kept cool with AC. Each has its own bathroom and shower. Jacuzzi in master but we didn't use. We tended not to take long showers either due to lower water pressure but it was ok.
Upstairs kitchen and family room are great with TV, Wifi, fans and 360 degree views. The kitchen stocked with salt pepper, sugar, 5 gallons of water, and in the fridge rum punch and ice! Shirlett is the best! Kitchen includes a kettle and dishwasher.
You can drive to any part of the island from this villa, especially Grace Bay and Sapodilla Bay which were highlights of our stay.
Shirlett arranged for an island experience too with a local chef cooking for us one night (Conch Salad, grouper and coconut shrimp!).
There is a bit of a stair climb up to get into the property, but we were fine. The cleanliness of the place was excellent.
Overall the Serenity Villa is a great and safe vacation rental that I highly recommend! Shirlett and her group's charm gave us the feeling of being in the embrace of a large family but where we did truly get to see the island and its culture.
