A perfect retreat, enjoy a cabin stay at Barebones Glamping, sleeping up to 4 guests (plus one additional child). Reminiscent of the old clinker boats that coastal communities have used to store tools and nets, most notably on Northumberland’s own Lindisfarne Island, the glamping cabins are designed to resemble upturned fishing boats – but with all the home comforts that have created a beautiful all season living space.
The private decking area at the front of the cabin leads down to your own gravelled area to the side, allowing an unhindered view over the lake towards ‘Bristol Lodge’ – the one time home of the author Catherine Cookson. Here there is seating provided around a firepit/BBQ. This cabin sleeps up to 4 adults, or up to 4 adults and one child under 12 years old. The fixed king-sized bed has a proper comfortable mattress. This sleeping area can be curtained off from the rest of the living space where there is a king-sized double sofa bed.
The kitchenette is equipped with a sink, kettle, toaster, fridge with small ice box compartment, double ceramic hob and an electric oven with a grill. There is a drop leaf table with folding chairs for dining. The cabin is heated by means of an electric heater, and each cabin has a 28” smart TV with DVD player and WiFi.
The en-suite shower room has a flushing toilet, shower, sink and shaver socket.
The private decking at the front of the cabin leads down to your own gravelled area where there is seating provided around a firepit/BBQ, so you can make the most of those long evenings around the fire enjoying the fantastic views.
In all cabins we provide bird spotting and stargazing guides as well as OS explorer maps of the area so you can make the most of the wildlife, stars and walking in the area. Six cabins are available on site: Blackcleugh, Wheatley's, Humbleton, The Wonneys, The Rushy Lot and Bare Bones.
We also have a children’s play area on site for our guests to enjoy. This is suitable for children between approximately 3 and 12 years old. It has been designed and built by Langley Furniture Works and follows our nautical theme – the play area includes a cargo net, slide, balance beams, small boat and raised boat platform for fantastic imaginative pirate play!!
Sorry no pets allowed in Barebones Glamping, for pet friendly accommodation please check out Wheatley’s and Blackcleugh.

Amazing experience!
We have had an amazing weekend in the Barebones cabin. We took our 11 year old and 1 year old and both of them loved it. There was so much to explore, a little playground and a rope swing which kept both of them happy, not to mention some muddy puddles near the stream for plodding about in wellies. The views of the lake from the front of the cabin were beautiful - each of the 6 cabins are angled so that they feel private but each have a gorgeous view. The photos of the interior of the cabin don’t do it justice - the underfloor heating makes it feel so luxurious! We loved the fire pit and Jo organised our firewood kit in advance so that it was there ready for us when we arrived. All communication was quick and easy. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we are already planning another trip back in the summer holidays with our wider family. Highly recommend! Check out the Langley Dam Glamping website if you can as they offer great deals especially if travelling sustainably.
