Fisherman's Cottage, pet friendly - Lower Mill Estate, Cotswold Water Park
One of a row of terraced cottages on the Lower Mill Estate, Fisherman's Cottage is in a honeypot location in the centre of Cotswold Water Park. With something for everybody you can take advantage of the on-site facilities, travel further afield to explore Cirencester, Stroud, and Burford, or simply stay in and relax.
The main feature of the accommodation at Fisherman's Cottage is hidden until you step inside. Through the open-plan living area, you can enjoy views out across Somerford Lagoon and step onto the decking to take a seat and drink it all in. In the evening curl up in front of the wood burner and enjoy cooking a meal in the kitchen, which has everything you could need for your stay. With a dining table comfortably seating your whole group, and space to dine outside, you can enjoy time together without the distractions of normal everyday life. Upstairs are three bedrooms, including a bunk room, and there are two bathrooms and a ground-floor WC to reduce queues in the morning so you can get out the door to your adventures quicker.
Outside is a raised deck with steps taking you down to the lake edge. It is a breath-taking location with views of the local wildlife and beautiful sunsets. You will never tire of sitting here enjoying the sights. During the summer you can take to the water and enjoy everything that the Lower Mill Estate has to offer. Bring your own or hire bikes to cycle around the nature reserve or for a longer adventure through the picturesque villages nearby. Hire paddle boards, a rowing boat, or try out a new way of taking to the water on a katakanu which you can also take on a sunset safari on the lagoon. Children will love the play parks, soft play and activity trails on the nature reserve, and adults can relax with a yoga session. There really is no need to leave the estate.
Ground Floor
Entrance Hall: Arriving at Fisherman's Cottage you first step into the entrance hall. From here you can catch a glimpse of the lake through the windows at the far end of the house and already start to plan your activities. From the entrance hall there is a WC and a staircase up to the bedrooms.
Living/Dining Room: Walking onwards, the open-plan living/dining room with a wooden floor and plenty of windows is a sunny spot to welcome you to your holiday. The dining table seats six and is perfect for enjoying family board games as well as meals. There are two leather sofas in front of the wood burner set within a stone surround and a selection of DVDs and books to keep you entertained if rainy weather hits. Patio doors open out to the raised decking, and you can enjoy the lake view throughout this room.
Kitchen: With cream units and a wooden floor, the kitchen looks across to neighbouring holiday homes. It has everything you need for your stay with a fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, and a dishwasher alongside other smaller appliances.
First Floor
Bedroom One: To the left of the stairs is the first king-size double. Set at the front of the cottage this room has been furnished with a wooden bed, bedside table and lamp, and a chest of drawers.
Bathroom/Shower Room: Between bedrooms one and two is the family bathroom. Reminiscent of seaside holidays it has blue tiles and wooden units, in keeping with this cottage's lakeside location. There is a rainfall shower over the bath, a sink and WC.
Bedroom Two: Perfect for the children in the family, this room has two bunk beds providing flexibility for sleeping arrangements. It looks out over the lake to spark the imagination and let them dream of tomorrow's adventures.
Bedroom Three: The final bedroom is a king-size double with an en-suite bathroom. With a wooden bed, two bedside tables and lamps and built-in storage there is space here to hide the suitcases away. With a lake view it is a peaceful room where you can relax.
En-Suite: Decorated in the same style as the family bathroom, the en-suite has a bath with a rainfall shower above, a sink and WC. It provides a bit of private space away from the family to enjoy a bubble bath in peace.
Outside The location of this cottage is its main feature with fabulous lake views from the south-facing decking. You'll find yourselves spending most of your time out here either talking together over a BBQ meal, or simply enjoying the tranquillity with a good book and your favourite drink. Spot the ducks, coots, and herons on the lake while you soak up the sun in this idyllic setting.

Gorgeous location, lovely property and incredible sunsets. Part of the original Lower Mill development, so doesn’t have access to the indoor pool and spa. All other facilities available, and great to be able to charge our electric vehicle on site.

Fantastic stay!
We had a fab few days in Fishermen’s cottage, enjoying the fabulous Lower Mill estate. Ron was a helpful and accommodating host. Have recommended many times since! Teenagers with us had a great break with loads to do. Thanks!
Great spot to relax and disconnect, and lots of activities all in close proximity for when you want to get out and about.

Wonderful place in a greatt community. Very spacious and very clean and comfortable. Had lots of nice dvds and games and amenities. It was very limited on toilet paper and paper towels. Instructions for the bathroom extractor fans could be more clear, but the host was very nice in resolving a smoke detector issue when using a hot shower. All and all, i recommend this place!

Cosy stay
We had a nice time at fisherman’s cottage , it was clean and tidy on arrival and the welcome Guide was very thorough and helpful.
My only criticism would be the beds- we did not find the mattresses comfortable or the pillows and feel investment in some good quality ones would make all the difference.
We loved having the log burner on the chilly nights.
We would definitely come back in the summer - maybe a hot tub on the decking would be a welcome

Lovely location with enough local attractions to occupy us even in winter. Cottage warm and welcoming needs new mattresses on the bunks and more hooks to hang damp coats. Improvement to upstairs shower required . This did not hamper our stay

Lovely couple of nights
Stayed for 2 nts with family, great location , lovely views .
The property was a good size and layout for us , two double rooms and a bunk room.
It could do with a deep clean, lots of cobwebs in high corners ( hard to reach places ) but ok on the whole.
Good amenities, outdoor pool /sauna and an activity centre for bike rentals etc.
Lovely on-site restaurant , we visited both nights.
I didn't think the area as a whole was very user friendly , you have to keep your eyes on any children , don't know why pedestrian/cycle paths weren't put in, seems it caters more for cars.
We loved the location and house - really beautiful view from the porch over the lake, warm and cozy
Well equipped house although it is looking a bit tired and in need of some painting
My main negative comment is that the cost of the clean is rather large - and the house was not as clean as I would have expected. The dishwasher filter and arms were completely blocked and definitely had not been cleaned for a long time and the upstairs bath plug was blocked with horrible black hairs ...

Perfect Family Weekend Getaway
I booked Fishermans Cottage for a weekend away with my sisters, family friend and my 6 month old. It was such a BEAUTIFUL location, so easy to get to and the access info was great. The cottage sits on the lake so we had the most lovely peaceful time, the weather was also great so we enjoyed sitting on the deck, watching the lovely wildlife and enjoying the sunsets.
Due to the lakeside location, there were quite a lot of midges and flies that did get into the house - but this is no reflection of the cottage hygiene (which was great!) just something we noticed, so quickly made sure the back doors were kept shut!
The cottage itself was great, really well equipped, comfy and cosy with lovely clean sheets and towels.
It was really useful to have a travel cot bed and highchair there for us to use and saved having to take them with us!
We had the most lovely weekend - the Lower Mill Estate is wonderful to explore, and the surrounding area is beautiful. We enjoyed a lovely walk to The Bakers Arms for a pub lunch which was delicious and lovely area to walk around. FIsherman's Cottage is ideal for two families as there is a bunk bed room for the kids, but it worked well for us a 4 adults and a baby too!
Thank you for a fab weekend - we'll definitely be back!
