About the host
Hosted by Tom
West Hollowcombe Farm began as a dream to exchange city life for something richer, slower and more connected to the natural world.
After many years living and working in London, we were searching for a place where our family could grow up surrounded by open space, wildlife and adventure. The moment we discovered West Hollowcombe Farm, we knew we had found somewhere extraordinary. Nestled within a beautiful valley on Exmoor, with ancient woodland, a river running through the land and sweeping views in every direction, it felt like a world apart.
Over the years we have lovingly restored the traditional farm buildings, transforming them into welcoming cottages while preserving their character and history. More recently, we created the communal dining hall to provide a space where larger groups could gather, celebrate and reconnect.
Today, West Hollowcombe Farm is our family home. We live here with our three children, our dog, chickens, sheep and horses, and feel privileged to share this special place with guests. Nothing gives us greater pleasure than seeing families and friends come together to enjoy the same landscape, peace and freedom that made us fall in love with it.
Why they chose this property
We purchased West Hollowcombe Farm because we were looking for more than just a property; we were looking for a completely different way of life.
Having spent many years in London, we wanted to raise our family somewhere surrounded by nature, where rivers, woods and open countryside would form part of everyday life. When we first arrived at West Hollowcombe, we were immediately captivated by its beauty. The ancient woodland, flowing river, rolling Exmoor hills and sense of peace created a feeling that is difficult to describe but impossible to forget.
The traditional farm buildings offered an opportunity to preserve an important part of the landscape while creating somewhere that others could enjoy. We could see the potential for a place where families and friends could escape busy lives, reconnect with one another and create lasting memories in a truly special setting.
Many years later, that vision continues to inspire everything we do. We feel incredibly fortunate to call West Hollowcombe Farm home and are delighted to share it with guests from around the world.
What makes this property unique
Very few properties on Exmoor can offer the combination of privacy, space and shared facilities available at West Hollowcombe Farm.
When you book the farm exclusively, you enjoy sole use of four individual cottages, a beautiful communal dining hall, private wood-fired hot tub, children's play area and 55 acres of surrounding farmland and woodland. This creates the rare opportunity for large groups to spend meaningful time together without sacrificing privacy or comfort.
The farm sits in a spectacular position overlooking Exmoor National Park, with direct access to woodland walks, bridleways, open moorland and riverside adventures from the doorstep. Guests can enjoy wild swimming, wildlife watching, horse riding, cycling and walking without needing to drive anywhere.
Families particularly appreciate the freedom and safety of the private estate, while groups love the ability to gather around one table in the dining hall before retreating to their own cottage at the end of the evening.
The combination of exclusive use, authentic rural character, abundant wildlife, dark skies and a truly special location makes West Hollowcombe Farm unlike a typical large holiday house. It is a private countryside estate designed for memorable gatherings and exceptional shared experiences.
