Cottage by the East Lyn River in the heart of Exmoor National Park near Lynmouth
The cottage is nestled next to the Ford on the East Lyn River, in the charming Brendon Valley, renowned for Lorna Doone. Located on the National Trust's Watersmeet Estate, Rockford Lodge can be reached via a footbridge, tranquilly situated in a forest, secluded from traffic. The stunning North Devon coastline is close, with Lynton and Lynmouth merely four miles away. A variety of river, moorland, and coastal trails are accessible right from the garden gate, offering a scenic treat for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike. Opportunities for salmon and trout fishing on the East Lyn are available, along with excellent nearby horseback riding options.
The cottage features three comfortably sized bedrooms, including two twins and one double, a spacious bathroom with a separate shower, and an additional toilet. The ground floor offers generous living space, with a sitting room that boasts an open fire for the colder months and a large dining/TV room. The farmhouse-style kitchen is equipped with a breakfast table and is kept warm by the AGA. Additionally, there's a breathtaking River Room with views of the East Lyn River, an ideal spot for sipping wine. Outdoors, the sizable garden is dog-proof, and amenities such as tables, chairs, and a barbecue are provided. However, due to its location, this cottage is not recommended for individuals with mobility issues.

About the host
Hosted by Mrs Lucy Casella

Rockford Lodge has been a cherished part of our family for over 50 years. My parents, along with my two older brothers and myself on the way, devoted many years to furnishing, decorating, and partially restoring it, making it a place to be shared with others. It's a joy to now visit Rockford Lodge with my three children, ushering in a new generation. While my mother still visits the cottage regularly, the responsibility of its management has been passed on to me. I invite you to visit our website, and should you need any assistance, please feel free to reach out. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to Rockford Lodge soon.
