About this property

Closed for the Season/Re-opens late April-Lakefront Cottage at O'Dells Lake

CLOSED FOR THE SEASON. We kick off the 2026 season in late April and it will run to the end of October (2 night minimum). Three night minimum for Memorial Day Weekend, Fourth of July Weekend, and Labor Day Weekend. NO MORE THAN 4 GUESTS - SEE HOUSE RULES. NOTE: We continue to sanitize knobs, handles, hard surfaces, toilet, shower, TV remote, switches, etc. to ensure the utmost cleanliness. We also provide hand sanitizer for our guests use. Welcome to "The Martin House of Lakeville". Decompress & reconnect with your family, a loved one, a friend, or nature in this lakefront property on beautiful O'Dells Lake (100 acres) very close to Loudonville. The front yard is a peninsula that juts out in the lake. Great views from the front porch, deck and yard. This is an ideal location minutes to Mohican State Forest, Loudonville, Amish destinations and so much more. You can fish from the front yard or BRING YOUR OWN KAYAK OR CANOE AND LIFE JACKETS. No swimming or wading permitted from our property. Wonderful birdwatching. This property is tranquil, quiet, and relaxing. We have kept the charm of a lake cottage built in the 1930's. This property is ideal for a couple or two (no additional daytime or nightime guests allowed) having two bedrooms - one with a newer Queen bed with 3" memory foam topper and the other bedroom having one twin bed and one full bed. We use high thread count linens and blankets/and/or bedspreads are washed after every guest.
There is a gravel parking area right by the back door.
There's a small dock. There is no public boat ramp or public access to the lake (except for the homes with Lakefront property) which really limits watercraft traffic. Even on weekends there's very little boat traffic. We have an area where you can put in your kayak, canoe or rowboat (WE DO NOT PROVIDE ANY TYPE OF WATERCRAFT OR LIFEJACKETS) and the lake has a 9.9 hp limit. You may have to step down into your watercraft depending on the level of the lake at the time. The lake offers good fishing and fantastic birdwatching. The fish include bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish, an occasional pike, carp and more. Birds you may see include osprey, bald eagles, lots of hummingbirds and woodpeckers, green herons and great blue herons, nuthatches, titmouse, cormorants, and so much more. There is a submerged island that you can pull up to and take a dip. No swimming from our property. O'Dell Lake is a natural glacial lake fed in part by artesian springs. There's a deck, patio, and corkscrew willow tree next to the dock. All offer shade depending on the time of day. There is a fire pit down by the water - PLEASE DON'T PUT ANY TYPE OF TRASH IN THE FIRE PIT. You need to bring your own firewood but it has to be from Holmes County - there is a bait shop that sells firewood just a few minutes away. We supply a grill with propane, 40" HDTV with ROKU, DVD and free WIFI. You will find coffee, tea, bottled spring/purified water (our cottage water is from an artesian well but we realize some people don't like to drink well water), an assortment of herbs and spices, and some condiments (ketchup, mustard, etc.) and ice. Depending on the time of year you may find an assortment of fresh vegetables on your table from our garden. All windows have screens. There's usually a nice breeze coming off the lake. There is a 8,000 BTU a/c window unit and ceiling fan in the living room that cools the kitchen and bedrooms also. A 5,000 BTU a/c unit is also in the bedroom with the queen bed. We do not provide a hairdryer or ironing board/iron. In case of rain the front porch is spacious and airy. There is also baseboard heat and a moveable heater depending on the time of year. The entire cottage is yours to use, the yard and grounds. You're welcome to walk through the gardens. We have several benches under a mature corkscrew willow tree right on the lake next to the dock which offers shade. You're welcome to feed the fish that hang out by the dock. We have fish food available. We can meet you on the day of arrival but mostly are doing self check-in. We provide you with the lockbox code and some additional instructions. We live 20 minutes away so we would be close by for help. Sorry, NO PETS. 10% discount for weekly stays. Let us know when you book if there will be children. Children need to wear your own proper lifejackets when near the water. No smoking OR vaping inside or outside. No Candles. NO PARTIES-this is not a venue. No extra daytime guests allowed and no additional overnight guests allowed. I do expect my guests to do their own dishes and to tidy up after themselves. If you are staying in the area for a special event and don't want to drive to and from it, we do have someone who can help.

Couples getaway

Area is great for bird and turtle watching and was very relaxing outside. The cabin is older and the floors are uneven coming in. Bathroom location is in the breezeway and not a part of the main cabin so is very warm in there. We did really enjoy our stay since we were mostly outside.

Anniversary Getaway

Clean, quiet and close to Mohican State Park...all that we needed for a quick getaway to the country. We enjoyed the shady porch that felt like a bird sanctuary. So many cute hummingbirds and woodpeckers!! Sunsets are beautiful on Lake Odell. Owners communicate efficiently. Would recommend to anyone wanting to visit this part of Holmes county.

Perfect spot on a quiet lake but also close to a couple of other lakes and Mohican so we could use our boat and take a hike. We had a great time, thank you!

A lovely cottage

This is a lovely place and we really enjoyed our weekend stay. The cottage is nice and clean and had everything we needed. The outdoor spaces are amazing, right on the lake, with a deck, a willow tree, a garden, and a fire pit. We hope to return next year.

Great getaway to recharge

Well kept clean cabin. Great location on the lake. Saw hummingbirds, turtles, squirrels, and eagles. Nice fire ring. Bed was harder than I prefer and fishing wasn't the greatest (but that's no reflection of the house or the owner). Close to Amish country and local shops & restaurants

Nice getaway

This little cottage was perfect! The views are amazing. I had coffee on the deck every morning and listened to the birds. And at night I stargazed. I would recommend this place 100%. Owners were super fast on communicating with. Do yourself a favor and book a few nights..you won't regret it!

Stay at Lakeville House

The house was very clean and well stocked . A nice enclosed porch that faces the lake . Nice fire pit by the lake . Nice breeze and beautiful sunsets . The hosts respond quickly. The host even allowed us to pick fresh vegetables out of the garden on the property. They even supplied bird seed and hummingbird food for the feeders and carp food too for the carp . Overall it is a very nice place for the price . Only one slight thing is the driveway is a little tricky . Would definitely book again .

Awesome view of the lake!

Four of us (two couples) stayed at this wonderful cottage. Everything came as advertised. The cottage was very clean and had all of the amenities. On the first night, we built a nice fire by the lake and enjoyed a quiet evening, looking at the stars. The next night was chilly, so we fired up the electric fire place and watched football. We also enjoyed the Loudenville Free Fair and made the short trek to Ohio's Amish country. The location of the cottage was perfect! Hopefully, we have the chance to return next year. Thanks, Cindy & Bob! Almost forgot, when we arrived, we were greeted with a bowl of fresh fruit and veggies from the garden. You can't go wrong at this cottage!

Only a 15 min drive to Mohican Adventures which was our main focus for the weekend. House was cute and fit the 4 of us nicely. Kitchen did have a decent amount of utensils and cookware. Sunset by the lake was a wonderful bonus w the fire pit going. The couch and chair were comfy and the front enclosed patio was very nice. Some of our group mentioned the beds were a bit more firm than they like and other than that it’s definitely a cozy place. Make sure and follow the directions regarding heating and cooling, and you’ll be comfortable here. Decent value.

This is a perfect place to stay if you're looking for rest and relaxation. The property was well kept and clean. They left fresh fruit on the table for us from their garden. There is a nice little country place to get breakfast about 3 minutes from the cabin. There is also a grocery store in town only 10 minutes from the property. Plenty of outdoor activities close with Mohican being 15 minutes away. We would definitely stay here again.

Modest little house was clean and well appointed. We stayed during a cooler weekend, so really didn’t use the AC much, but when we did it worked well. Nice back porch and deck with very nice view of the lake. The dock was good for launching our kayak, and for paddle boarding. The 10HP limit on boats keeps the lake pretty calm, which was good for us kayakers. We used the grill and for some reason it had to be re-lit a couple of times, but no big deal. Bottled water was provided, I assume because the tap water is problematic for some.

THIS WAS A GREAT GETAWAY FOR MY HUSBAND AND ME. THE HOST WAS VERY HELPFUL AND ACCOMMODATING, SHE RESPONDED WELL. WE LOVED SITTING ON THE BACK PORCH WATCHING THE BIRDS. THE HOST EVEN SUPPLIED FOOD FOR THE FISH IN THE LAKE WHICH WAS FUN SEEING THEM EATING. THE COTTAGE WAS CLEAN AND ORGANIZED, THERE WERE PLENTY OF DIRECTIONS SO YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO GUESS WHAT TO DO AND THERE WAS ALSO SUGGESTIONS ON ON PLACES TO GO AND PLACES TO EAT. DON'T BE CONCERNED ABOUT NO CENTRAL AIR THE TWO AIR CONDITIONERS COOLED THE WHOLE HOUSE! IF YOU ARE INTO KAYAKING OR BOATING ANYTHING LIKE THAT, THIS HOUSE IS AWESOME FOR THAT. THERE'S A DOCK AND THE LAKE IS LIKE GLASS. WE REALLY ENJOYED OURSELVES AND WOULD BOOK AGAIN!!!
