About this property
2 Mins Walk from Edinburgh's Best Beach!
This is a wonderful, spacious, traditional seaside townhouse, built at a time when wealthy Edinburgh families also bought a house by the sea in order to cool off on those hot summer days.
Laid out over 3 floors, the wide staircases are a feature, particularly the winding staircase between the first and second floors (note; they're a bit too wide for standard stair gates, so may not be ideal for young children). The Living Room is positioned on the first floor, as was the norm for the time, with 3 large windows that let the light stream in. From the top floor there are views over the roof tops to Arthur's Seat from the front and across the Firth of Forth to Fife at the rear.
The house offers 4 bedrooms, Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, Family Bathroom with Jacuzzi bath, a WC on each floor, full gas central heating, high pressure hot water system, Primary Bedroom with ensuite, WiFi, Smart TV, travel cot, high chair, iron and ironing board, hair dryers, linen and towels. Hopefully everything you need!

Close to the beach and lovely restaurants and coffee shops. Home was perfect for our group and the host was great communicating with us regarding check-in.
An excellent family home. Warm, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. I would definitely stay here again if the owner lets us lol! Thanks so much for a lovely stay
We loved our stay in this beautiful house. Nicely decorated, including lots of lovely pictures. A very well stocked kitchen, with everything you might need for cooking. Plenty of space, lovely living room. The house is in a great location, 2 minutes from the beach, shops etc 1 minute in the other direction. Regular buses take you right into Edinburgh within 1/2 hour. Would highly recommend this home.
A great place to stay for our family. Kids live in London, Vancouver and Yorkshire and the house was the perfect place and size to all get together for a couple of days. Will definitely book again if staying in Edinburgh. Thank-you

Great location and lovely home ! We had a wonderful stay and easily took the bus in and out of Edinburgh.
Great house in a perfect location for family gathering. Patrick was really helpful as was his neighbour who let us in and called us after we left as we had forgotten a piece of luggage.
We had a brilliant stay in a house with everything that is needed and able to accommodate 8 adults with ease and comfort. The price and location make it an absolute must whilst Patrick and Roslyn add the personal and extremely helpful touch. We will be back, thank you.
Wonderful home that is very well equipped. Great location with easy access to downtown (via bus) and the beach (you are there). Wonderful host and very clean
Lovely stay in Portabello. Easy Uber ride into town. House accommodations were lovely. We were 6 and had plenty of room. Would most definitely stay again.
Fantastic, spacious home. Comfortable and clean with everything needed to feel at home. Excellent location right near the beach, bus for a quick trip into Edinburgh, and plenty of stores within walking distance.

Had a lovely time in the beautiful home ! Thank you.
An absolutely wonderful home for a large family or group of friends to stay at! There were 7 of us in our party and the home was a great size for us. All of us having beds, ease of use of the restrooms, and a dining room large enough to accomodate those late night meals after a day exploring the city. Couldn't have been better for us!
We loved the location and the home. Would highly recommend.

About the host
Hosted by Patrick
I moved to Portobello from Edinburgh City Centre when I fell in love with what was then a very dilapidated house with a lot of potential. Having spent all my spare time (and money) on the house for 5 years, I got a job in Italy and had to leave it behind in 2010. Not being able to part with it, I decided on holiday rentals which have proven to be very popular.
Why they chose this property
It's a real home. Many guests have commented on that. This could be because of all the dedication and love that went into its restoration!
It's bursting with character and many original features have been retained or reinstated, along side modern twists with lighting and art.
What makes this property unique
It's difficult to say what in particular I fell in love with when I first saw the house. It may have been the stairs and the light. There was a lovely feel to the place. The first floor living room with 3 big windows and original fireplace is a favourite, as is the wee room at the top with a view across the water to Fife.. Or the big bedroom at the top with a view to Arthur's Seat.
And I should mention the great community spirit in Porty. So many people will say hello, whether you know them or not and the High Street is full of great shops, bars and cafes.
