Private holiday home - total relaxation in car-free island in

The house is from 2004, with modern facilities including TV, DVD, PS2, air conditioning, washing machine, dishwashing machine, fully furnished kitchen, free wifi. We clean out a 100 sqm holiday home with balcony and a 50 sqm apartment with a 12 sqm terrace. (Please check the 50 sqm studio described under 'Modern studio - total relaxation in car-free Island II).

Outside terrace next to the house with BBQ. Mountain view, comfort, quiet and family friendly. Fully equipped kitchen, large bathroom.

The 100 sqm house has two bedrooms, a master bedroom and a children's room with three beds. Also an extra small room with one bed, ie the house sleeps 6 persons. Large bathroom with shower and washing machine. Living room with dining table, leather sofa, and open access to a fully furnished kitchen with convection oven, dish-washing machine, fridge and freezer, etc. The children's room has toys available. Since this is our second home, we hope att our guests vil take good care of it :)

In front of the house is a fruit orchard with olive trees, lemon trees, fig trees, almond trees and pomegranate trees as well as two small Greek tortoises som live here Permanently. Great views til Mountains and other parts of Hydra from the house.

Mette and Ioannis are very welcoming hosts, the self-check in was perfect and the apartment a wonderful and cosy, airy open-plan space in a typical Hydra house to get relaxation. The light and the views are great, we mostly used the balcony. The only little minus is the 10-15min fairly steep and exhausting way you have to climb every time to get back to the apartment from the Centre of the Little Hydra town. (The house is one the last houses on this hill.) But we found it’s worth it, we enjoyed our stay still very much.

Incredible location, home and hosts

After a mighty uphill walk (bring minimal things ; ) we were rewarded with an incredible home, view and island experience. Hydra is it! It was our favourite place in Greece. Mette was very kind and helpful and the house has all the things we needed and more supplies than most places provide.

We loved Hydra, this timeless little island, and the house played a major role in our family's well-being during our week's holiday. It's very well thought out, you don't lack anything. It's very pleasant to live in, which was a real pleasure. For children up to 6 years old, the climb up to the house may be difficult, but otherwise everything is perfect!

Wonderful!

We spent two weeks in the apartment and felt very comfortable. Yes, the way there is steep (as described), but for that you are surrounded by beautiful nature and have a great view of the mountains. The apartment is perfect for families, clean and well equipped. We especially enjoyed the balcony and the relaxing terrace (from evening). Thank you Mette, for the nice communication and the organization of our luggage transport by the mules.

Awesome place

This place is unique if you are looking for a peaceful environment. Exceptional view from the house and nice walks into nature. Don't expect a café every 5 km. You will not find it, take a pick-nick with local products from one of the grocery shops instead and enjoy the beautiful island. Lots of possibilities for a nice dinner in the upper part of the town, away from the crowd if you prefer. Wrt the house, good quality of the bed, clear information about the house and environment. We enjoyed very much !

Worth the uphill walk!

This is a great property! Clean, quiet, nice views. The uphill climb is not for the faint of heart, but it’s worth every step. Not that Hydra is a loud party town, but it’s good to be up and away from the crowds. Mornings are mostly filled with birds chirping and roosters crowing. You just have to plan your days around one trip down and one trip up. We found that easy to do. Laze around in the morning, walk down, get a light lunch, walk a trail or go to a beach, shop, have a nice dinner, then walk back up at around 9 pm or 10 pm. Highly recommended!

I didn’t want to leave

The house was perfect for our family of 6. Make a note of the location and owner’s name beforehand because internet/mobile signal may not work when you first arrive at the port. We had a little difficulty finding the house from the last bit of directions. Kind strangers tried to help but didn’t recognize the address (even though they lived on the same street!), but once I mentioned the owner’s last name, they immediately led us to the house. Turns out that no one uses addresses! Everything else about our stay was ideal and magical. The hike up was fine for our kids, ages 10-16, while pulling our luggage. We didn’t use mules to carry luggage.

Hi Natalie, thanks for your feedback. Yes, it is true, street names and house numbers are not commonly used in Hydra. Our address "Agia Fotini" is in fact the name of the nuns monastery visible from the house. The street name indicated is only to be able to place the house on Google Maps. This is why we always send directions on how to find the house. When followed, it goes well for most. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay !

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt auf Hydra und im Haus von Mette und Ioannis wirklich sehr genossen. Es ist schön und geräumig mit einem herrlichen Blick über die Insel und angenehm ruhig gelegen, etwas abseits des Trubels vom Ortskern. Der leichte Anstieg zum Haus hat uns sehr gefallen, man sollte aber gut zu Fuss sein. Wir wären am liebsten noch länger geblieben und kommen gerne wieder!

Hydra la belle hors du temps

Nous sommes arrivés à Hydra en famille. Le port est magnifique et très préservé. Une ambiance hors du temps y règne sans les voitures, avec les mules et toutes ses petites ruelles. Après avoir grimpé quelques mètres, nous decouvrons la villa Hydra. Telle qu elle est décrite dans l'annonce. Très confortable, propre et bien équipée. Elle surplombe la vallée et offre une vue magnifique. Nous avons très bien communiqué avec Mette qui était très disponible pour répondre à toutes nos questions. Superbe

Wunderbar ländlich

Das Haus liegt herrlich am Rande des Dorfes, kein Touristentrubel, dafür krähende Hähne und wiehernde Mulis. Ja, der Heimweg ist sportlich, vor allem bei Hitze und mit Einkäufen, aber es ist wirklich überschaubar und ein schöner Weg. Ohne die Kinder (die jede Katze streicheln wollten) haben wir 10 Minuten runter und 12 hoch gebraucht. Wir würden die Wohnung sofort nochmal buchen!

Our Greek Summer

We had the great pleasure to stay at Mette´s place on Hydra for 7 weeks. Mette and her family were outstanding kind and supportive. We never felt alone. Every topic that came up was quickly reseloved. Key handover and checkout were easy. But prepare yourself for some walking as the house is up the hill and 10 minutes outside the harbour area. The house itself is spacious, modern and has all amanities one can whish for. It is even child proof. Mette also offered us to use the families beach shoes for the pebble beaches on Hydra. We had a wonderful time and would stay with Mette again. Thank you!

Fantastic views, excellent amenities

We were 6 friends, from different countries. meeting up in Hydra for a week. The landlady was extremely helpful with bed arrangements. The villa was out of the town which we wanted, we may not have wanted the climb home but it made us fitter I am sure. The villa was well laid out and had everything you needed to have an enjoyable stay. Pots, pans, cooking facilities and BBQ if staying in. Washing machine and dishwasher plenty of linen and towels. There was not a single complaint from any of us and I would highly recommend this villa to anyone seeking a week's holiday on paradise.
