Cool weekend in May

Everything was great. Clark and Lyndsie addressed any questions that came up in a prompt manner. Accuracy of online listing needs more recent pictures that reflect the improvements on the Swamp Tuna

Sneaux in the Bayou

What an amazing experience. The time we picked for our adventure was unusual from a weather standpoint, but we kept snug and warm in the houseboat and still saw many amazing sights. Clark was an amazing host and so easy to work with, and gave great instructions for operating the houseboat. We had such a great time.

Best way to see this beautiful area!!!

Our time on the swamp tuna far exceeded our expectations, which were pretty high already! It was an unbelievable way to see the swamps, and Clark’s explanations of the history of the swamp and the local area made it even more fascinating! We saw countless bald eagles and herons as well as many alligators, turtles and other wildlife. It was such a great way to leave behind the stress of the daily life behind and completely relax! We Highly recommend it!!

Great Trip 5+ stars

I’m going to echo what everyone else has posted. This trip was 5+ stars. Mr. Clark put a lot of thought and time into ensuring the boat is tip-top. The boat is immaculate and well-stocked with food and snacks. If you enjoy photography, nature, fishing, or just relaxing for a few days this is the trip for you. This was our first trip on the Swamp Tuna but it will not be our last.

Amazing Opportunity to immerse in the Bayou in comfort.

What can I say that hasn’t been said by hundreds of other happy reviews. This is a very special opportunity to explore the bayou’s on your own in great comfort. Fishing and kayaking right at your fingertips. We did it as a family with a 7 and 9 year old and everybody had fun and wants to come back. Clark has really thought out every aspect of the boat and pretty much everything you need is covered. The boat is extremely comfortable and about as immersed in nature as possible. We saw more bald eagles than people over 4 days and three nights. Our whole family had a great time. Thanks Clark!

AMAZING getaway!!

The houseboat trip was so amazing. More than expected for sure. My husband and I had a wonderful time. You have a short orientation with the owner and off you go. We enjoyed riding the bayous, fishing, cooking on the boat. Seeing the huge, beautiful lake (a must-see sunrise and sundown if you plan on staying near). Everything you need is on the boat. There is no ac, but it was not needed, the nights are very cool and during the day there is always a cool breeze and plenty of shade to find to just relax with a drink or do some fishing. I can't wait to return! I wouldn't suggest for small children.

One of the best experiences of my life

Clark was a wonderful host. Could not have been more thoughtful on everything that was aboard when we arrived in terms of food staples and general supplies you would need for a trip on a houseboat. His instructions on houseboat fundamentals when we arrived were on point. He’s well versed on what is needed and what needs to be articulated for such an excursion on all fronts. The houseboat itself was very clean and user friendly. Again, Clark had thought of everything to make the experience very easy even for inexperienced boaters. Exploring the swamp itself was fantastic and I can’t wait to go back and bring my kids next time. The fact that you can explore the swamp without having to be anchored down to one location nightly was priceless. Loved being out there on our terms with no agenda. Just a great experience. Can’t say enough good things.

10/10 would Swamp Tuna again!!!

I can't stress enough how much we needed this, and how much you probably need this too. For two years, my husband and I had been dreaming about one day getting to embark on our own adventure upon the Swamp Tuna. Well, we finally did it, and though it didn't seem possible for this experience to exceed our expectations, it did. This was by far the best vacation rental I have ever been lucky enough to find. This area of Louisiana is a nature lover's paradise with wildlife all around. We drove the boat through the Bayous and kayaked throughout the day, and we anchored and slept in a new location every night. Our favorite memory is cooking delicious cajun meals outside on the deck overlooking the diverse flora and fauna. The Swamp Tuna was our bed to sleep in, our food, and our daily activity all-in-one, an all-inclusive swamp resort for those who want to disconnect, immerse in nature, and get away from everyone and everything. It may seem a bit intimidating for those who have never ventured so far off-the-beaten-path, but our incredible host, Clark, removed all fears and provided every comfort aboard the Swamp Tuna. He provides absolutely everything you could ever need. Seriously, EVERYTHING. He was always available to us by phone, and we never lost phone service. Clark was the best host we could have asked for, making our visit completely stress-free. The boat is extremely easy to drive, even for beginners, and the maps are very easy to navigate. Don't hesitate... Just book it!

Spectacular Adventure!

I cannot express my stay in any other words than just… WOW! It was everything I was looking for! I planned a surprise trip for my husband and I for our anniversary! He’s an avid outdoorsman! He was so shocked and surprised when we got to the dock! We experienced so much during our stay! From the wildlife to the scenery to even the weather, it was so beautiful and peaceful!! This will not be our only time on this adventure! We can’t wait to come back with our kiddos!!

Swamp Tuna Adventure

This was an awesome experience and adventure for our family! The swamp tuna has everything you need for a truly immersive experience in the Louisiana bayou. The host thought of everything and the boat was very well stocked with food and supplies. We are nature lovers and the swamp certainly delivered. In addition to the cypress trees and other unique wetland vegetation , we saw and heard tons of wildlife including alligators, limpkins, herons, egrets, eagles, barred owls, osprey, whistling ducks, prothonotary warblers, tree frogs, and much more! We also caught lots of fish, including some nice catfish which we fried up on the boat. Being able to watch the swamp wake up in the morning and go the sleep in the evening was amazing. This was truly a trip to remember and Clark and Lindsey were tremendous hosts!

Best way to experience Louisiana!

While traveling through in our RV, we wanted a way to really explore the bayous of Louisiana. We couldn’t have asked for a better way than staying on the Swamp Tuna! What an experience! Everything about it was so cool, from getting to drive the boat around to kayaking with the gators, we had the most relaxing 3 nights aboard the boat. To top it all off, this was the most well stocked place we have ever rented. What an awesome host and an awesome boat!

Our Second Stay in Swamp Paradise

We came several years ago and vowed to return. It was another great 4-night trip that didn't disappoint. My teens love to fish and I enjoy sitting on the front porch, enjoying the amazing views. The boat is easy to operate and my teens were the captains. Last time we visited in April, and I wasn't sure how the weather would be in December. The weather was delightful, minus a big storm one evening. The fish were biting and the wildlife was spectacular, as usual. The daylight was shorter, of course, but we found some spots to park at night with decent cell signal for streaming. We ate pre-made cajun dinners from the local grocery store and they are delicious with zero effort on my part. We rented the dingy and the paddle kayak. They add a lot to the trip. There were lots of places we were able to explore with these extra toys. The hosts are always available and flexible. They even helped us get rides to/from the airport so we didn't have a rental car parked all week. You will not regret this great adventure!

Unique, immersive bayou stay

Our host met us at the dock and made sure we had everything we needed before we set sail. He was incredible during our entire stay, very responsive and was able to help us with any issues or questions. The Swamp Tuna was so much fun and the most unique place we have ever stayed. Our host stocked us up with supplies and provided great tips for where to anchor at night. The swamp was gorgeous and scenic, lots of wildlife. Best hospitality we've had in a long time, and the best views! Overall, it was a charming and unplugged experience. Thank you for everything!!!

Perfection

We spent three days cruising on the Tuna and could not have been happier. We are not familiar with boating but caught on quick and had no issues with navigating these waters. We spent our time fishing and watching the plentiful wildlife. This is a trip that I was nervous to take but it turned out to be one of our most memorable experiences. If you are hesitant please just go for it. These were three of the best days in my 40+ years on this earth. Thank you Clark for sharing this piece of the world with us. We could not have asked for a better host.

About the host

Hosted by Clark Blanchard

Host profile image
Having spent our entire lives in what we consider to be the most beautiful place on earth, we were determined to create a new way to enjoy it. I've owned many houseboats through the years. Although they were useful they were somewhat inconvenient. The generator always had to be maintained and constantly refueled (and was noisy). Traditionally, they're stationary and not designed for exploration. This is why we are SO excited to introduce The Swamp Tuna. We also custom build for sale.

Why they chose this property

Convenience and comfort are now both on the move! Our solar powered houseboats are the new way to enjoy the best nature has to offer. No more noisy generator, no more living from an ice chest, no more cold baths. Many of the comforts of home... on the move! Super easy to pilot and can be rented for a family day on the lake or extended stay.

What makes this property unique

Explore on your own terms! The "Swamp Tuna" uses conventional propulsion so even a beginner can get around with ease. (yep... YOU CAN DRIVE IT AROUND!!)
