Browns Shack is a quirky, rustic, dog-friendly glamping cabin in a small wooded area; a respite from hustle-bustle and chattering tech (Wi-Fi is spotty). There is a double bed, heating and en-suite compost/waterless toilet and shower (quick showers). Outdoor 'kitchenette' under the eaves; cooking on a hot plate or BBQ unit, and a decked area with outdoor seating, lounge chairs and fire bowl. A small amount of fuel for BBQ and fire bowl is provided. For full details (so no surprises), please read description below and see images, incl. location.
The space
Our small, secluded woods was probably historically a marl pit. As such, it is a dipped wooded area, and access is via a ramped walkway. The entrance to the woods is fenced in for added privacy.
This wooded area is shared with guests staying at Browns Shepherd Hut. However, each have their own separate areas and own fire bowl. For the location of the cabin in relation to the shepherd hut, please see image provided regards property layout.
We welcome quiet, well-behaved dogs at no extra charge. Regrettably, only one furry friend allowed.
Non-staying guests are not permitted on the property. We ask that guests be mindful of other residents, including our animal friends and the wildlife that share the space.
Browns Shack offers guests a tiny house-cum-glamping experience with a reclaimed/upcycled ethos in mind. It features a double bed, en-suite shower, and a compost/waterless toilet. During colder months, an electric fire stove, infrared heaters and electric blanket provide indoor warmth and comfort. Water supply is connected to mains, so is safe to drink. An under counter water heater provides hot water for quick showers and all taps.
A small 'kitchenette' under the eaves is equipped with a sink and hot plate, kettle, cafetiere, cutlery, crockery, toaster and utensils. There is a mini fridge in the cabin. Guests can also cook their meals on a BBQ unit. BBQ utensils and charcoal are provided. A fire bowl outside the shack, for exclusive use by shack guests only, is available for striking up a cosy fire on cold evenings when relaxing outdoors. A small amount of charcoal for the BBQ, and wood, kindling, and firelighters for the fire bowl is provided.
Our property is surrounded by fields for grazing sheep and cattle, though you won’t have to look far to see ‘wild life’ as we also share our home with our dogs and a herd of rescue horses. You can enjoy views of the fields to the back of the property from our ‘tree house’ viewing platform, which is a shared facility with guests at Browns Shepherd Hut.
We are conveniently located just 10-15 minutes’ walk to Robertsbridge village, which offers shops, a café and bakery, pubs, restaurant, pharmacy, post office, vet and overground train station. We recommend driving if you wish to enjoy the various attractions of 1066 Country High Weald AONB. E.g. Battle Abbey, Bodiam Castle, Pashley Manor Gardens, Darwell Wood, Scotney Castle and Carr Taylor Vineyard are within 15 minutes’ drive or less. While Rye, Hastings, Camber Sands beach, Chapel Down Vinery and Herstmonceux Castle are approximately 30 minutes’ drive away.
Please note we do not offer farm stay or equestrian experience. We offer, by appointment only, horse guided family and systemic constellation therapy sessions. If you’re interested, please search online for ‘horse constellations shivaun’ or contact us for more information.
