With over 100 feet of exclusive oceanfront and a two-level patio extending over the water, you’ll be immersed in the sights and sounds of the sea. Our 10 day stay at Seaside Casita was truly exceptional. The open concept south facing unit was private, peaceful and offered commanding views of Maple Bay from every vantage point. The two tier private waterfront deck was our daily hangout after exploring the myriad outdoor activities on offer in the Cowichan Valley. Cycling the extensive and well maintained Cowichan Valley Rail trails and swimming in Lake Cowichan and popular Maple Bay beach (a 10-minute walk from the casita!) were the highlights of our stay. John and Patricia are superb hosts providing helpful recommendations and ensuring our stay was 10/10. Seaside Casita is one of those rare locations that unquestionably merits a return trip.

Beautiful seaside stay

Upon entering the guest suite area through the magical “secret garden,” you are in a secluded quiet place with the lapping of the ocean audible nearby. A well-appointed kitchen with all kinds of appliances made cooking easy and enjoyable. The availability of kayaks was such a huge bonus; it would have been hard bringing our own on this steep property. Would recommend if you need to relax and the accommodation itself is your destination!

We really enjoyed the stay at Maple Bay. The bay and surrounding mountains are beautiful, and we enjoyed watching the water and wildlife over coffee every morning. The hosts were very helpful with local recommendations for hikes, towns to visit, restaurants, and other activities. A peaceful and relaxing escape from the busy outside world! Thanks again!

Wee gem on Maple Bay

We wanted to get out of the snow and see spring on the island and this property didn’t disappoint. For Carole and I this property was ultra relaxing especially the terrace near the water. Will definitely look at staying again.

Patricia, originally from Calgary, and John, a Toronto native, found each other on Vancouver Island. John moved here in 2016, and Patricia joined him in 2019 to continue her consulting work while embracing the island’s laid-back vibe. Patricia’s passion for community-building is still going strong through her small business, which lets her work from home and stay connected to projects she loves. John, who used to race sailboats and play squash, now enjoys the slower pace of island life, working from home, and sailing on the beautiful west coast of British Columbia.
Both Patricia and John are always up for a bit of fun, physical activity, and spending time with family and friends. If there’s live music nearby, you can bet they’ll be there taking it in and probably on the dance floor. They’re excited to share their island home's charm with guests, ensuring everyone has a great stay.
