Elegant, Provencal style modern town-house built in the grounds of 18th Century house -The lottisment has electric gates, secure private parking and is located just 3 mns walk from historic centre of St. Remy, its restaurants and shops. Please note our house does not have Air Conditioning.
Accommodation: two bedrooms, kitchen/dining room, salon, shower room, and private terrace. Situated in the heart of Provence: Aix-en-Provence - 45 minutes, Nimes - 45 minutes, Vaison la Romaine - 1hr.15 minutes.
Nestled in the foothills of the Alpilles the medieval village of St Remy de Provence is ‘the jewel of the Alpilles'. Away from the crowds of the Cote d’Azur, artists and celebrities are known to seek refuge here to enjoy the unhurried pace of life. With its unique link to Vincent Van Gogh, lovers of history, art, food, wine and charming boutiques will feel at home in St. Remy.
The townhouse provides refined comfort in the ambiance of the original 19th Century Chateau.
Ground Floor:
Kitchen: Well equipped modern kitchen with good quality appliances.
Fridge-freezer, washing machine, dish-washer, hob and fan oven.
Tempering this modernity are the Provencal hand painted dining table and chairs. Excellent quality cooking utensils, tableware, glassware and tablecloths are provided, for preparing the abundance of fresh produce available from local markets and gourmet shops.
Salon/Living room:
Comfortable furnishings in soothing tones with traditional hand painted local furniture. For your entertainment: TV, CD’s or choose a book from the ‘biblioteque’.
Patio/Garden:
French doors from the Salon lead to the verdant terrace (a room from nature!) with a table & chairs to seat 4 people. Enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine under our olive tree and listen to the babble of water from the nearby canal/irrigation system.
Shaded by a retractable awning this charming terrace is the perfect place to read or write!. However it is small and not suitable for sun bathing.
Upstairs:
Bedroom 1 – King-size bed (6 ft) with superior density support mattresses. This charming room has hand painted bedside tables and generous wardrobe space which contains an electric fan and hairdryer.
The bedroom window overlooks Route de Rogadou and has a view of of the provencial style house and country lane in the photo.
Bedroom 2 – Small double bed (4' 6') with superior density support mattress.
This bedroom overlooks the Villa Nova Fontaine and gardens, and has a view across to the Chateau. The room is furnished with two hand painted lockers and a traditional Provencal wardrobe. Inside the wardrobe are extra blankets, an electric fan and a hairdryer.
Suitable for two children or One adult.
The landing outside the bedrooms is small 1m x 2m and leads to the shower room.
Shower Room/WC – The outer area has a WC, Wash Hand basin and heated towel rails with tiled floor and a separating wall which leads into a large walk-in shower area/wet room (5.6 ft x 2.6 ft approx) with floor to ceiling tiling and mosaic flooring. The shower area is equipped with a strong shower and also contains a convenient wash stand.
History:
The ancient market town of St. Remy was first settled by those fleeing the nearby Roman city of Glanum as it was sacked by Germanic tribes c.270 AD. The Excavated remains of this Gallo-Roman city are now a major archeological attraction.
Stroll along the narrow winding streets and shaded squares. Discover the ornate 17th and 18th century buildings now housing museums and art galleries.
Here in St. Remy, while being cared for in the monastery at ‘St Paul de Mausole’ Vincent Van Gogh painted more than 150 canvasses, inspired by the fields of wheat, olive trees and wild flowers of the surrounding countryside

St Remy's tourist office is a leisurely 10 minutes walk from Villa Nova.
