A little about your host, Kelvin.

I was born and raised in Barbados to age 10 /11, when in 1971 I was whisked away on a very slow BOAC Trident Jet which took 13 long hours, to join our mother in Chiswick West London England. Soon after arrival we moved from Chiswick to Feltham Middlesex, where I attended secondary school.

My first employment after leaving school was as a 5-year Apprentice Trainee Electronic Wireman, and this included attendance at Kingston College of Further education where I sat and passed two papers gaining two City & Guilds of London Institute Certificates for my efforts, passed with Distinctions.

At 21, I had a change of direction and went into retailing with one of the UK's largest high street retailers. After eight months, I was invited onto the company’s Trainee Management Program, which included a short course of professional training in the phycology behind managing people.

Thirteen years later, my quest for knowledge and the buzz of a challenge took me into the more difficult art of Direct Salesmanship.

I became a father at 27 to the best son a father could wish for, and during an incredibly happy marriage I sadly became a widower at 48. Nearly 17 yrs on from that dreadful event, I am now a grandfather to two gorgeous little girls.

I have a love for all the creative arts and architecture and an interest in worldwide events. My lasting quest to learn new things and about people, took me travelling throughout the lengths and breath of the UK & Ireland, Western Europe incl Spain, France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands [the Streets of Amsterdam a few times], Greece, Malta, the Americas [New York, Florida / Caribbean - Haiti, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel for a taste of Mexico, and Dubai for an introduction to the Middle-East, before returning to Barbados, which has always remained home, eight years ago.

Growing up and having a diversity of friends much wider than my limited travels, with different religious and cultural backgrounds, in addition to my travels from an early age, means that I have a very easy-going mindset, which is open to differences. My philosophy to life is, 'laughter at every opportunity, never take yourself, life or anything too seriously'. This is borne out through my long-suffering irrational love for a football club called; "Queens Park Rangers FC", but as I am one who like to see others doing well, and a closet glory hunter, I also support whichever team is at the top of their game and winning. I have a serious, focused, determined, and relentless work ethic that has always blinded me from playing as hard as I work; however, I do also enjoy kicking back with a rum/beer or five, and great stimulating conversation with good people.

The Neighbourhood:

The property sits on a terrace approx. 250ft above sea level, hence the title, "Breezy Vista on the Terrace", and stretches out from east to west, which means there is the benefit of a constant sea breezy to the occupants. The combine areas of Water Hall, St Silas, Deanes, Apes Hill & Westmoreland are classified as, "middle to upper income neighbourhoods", and retain some of the old-fashion ideals such as looking out for and ensuring the wellbeing of each other, which means our guess are assured of a comforting welcome, securities and pleasantries, as is typically synonymous with such neighbourhoods.

We welcome you to enjoy a stay at;
Breezy Vista on the Terrace

Surfers Paradise

We wanted to stay on the northend but all the hotels and B&Bs were out of our budget. That was until we found Kelvin’s clean, safe and super cute home. It was just as described and the photos were correct. We went to a great dinner at the Fish Pot not too far away. Then relaxed watching Netflix on his smart tv the rest of the night. The next morning my husband found a great secret surfing spot! We will be back for sure. Thank you!

Exceptional

We arrived at the property in the late evening and were met by a very welcoming owner who invited myself and daughter into our chosen accommodation. Nothing can prepare you for the magnificent view we encountered on our first morning !!!! Everything you need is catered for (basically it was home from home) The area is very safe The property is extremely cool with all around fresh breezes keeping temperatures comfortable. Please don’t have any doubts staying here (Kelvin the owner) is extremely helpful and does everything to make your stay comfortable without intruding on your privacy. We will definitely book this little gem again If you are looking for a peaceful holiday with easy access to the west of the island then a stay here is highly recommended Thank you Kelvin you did yourself proud

Host profile image
I was born and raised in Barbados UpTo the age of 10/11 but then emigrated to London England where I completed my formal education, started my first job, partied hard, settled down and got married, fathered my son at 27, started two successful businesses became a widower at 48 and spent the majority of my life, before returning to Barbados9 yrs before retirement, 8 years ago.

My character is one that is empathic, I'm a great listener and have always appreciated the fact that I have one mouth and two ears for a reason. I'm easy-going, love to laugh even at myself. I've learnt not to take life too seriously. I can be laid back to the point of often falling over, but at the same extent in work mode there is no one that can out work me. I'm left side orientated, which helps with the fact that I'm creative and love all and anything that have a creative element, which means I love photography, architecture, 90% of the arts, nature etc...

Why they chose this property

Arriving in the UK at age nearly 11, by 21, although I love the experience of all that was new and different, it was at that time and age I made the decision that I would settled back in Barbados, So for the last 20 years in the UK I would travel back at least once a year and my preference was the South Coast. However, out of 10 properties I had seclected to view for my home, it was this one with the [Breezy Vista] on the West Coast that I fell in love with. I wanted a project, on a fair size lot of land, with the potential to create a separate accomodation for my son, family & many friends who saw the opportunity to visit me often. It was also the high up terraced views that caught my attention, the neighborhood in itself, the convenient to everything I would need to live, and I loved the abundance of nature /trees and the cleanliness of the air I would breathe. But it was later getting to know my like-minded neighbours that was the bonus ...

What makes this property unique

Our guest from other platforms tells us they love our position high up on the terrace which is conducive to the constant east to west sea breeze that flows through the apartment and the spectacular sea views on a clear hot day. They love the Caribbean colours of the fully equipped kitchen and the other facilities which is helpful to a great stay. They love that we are highly rated for our cleanliness and 10/10 ratings for our hosting. They love the convenience of being on the West Coast of Barbados without being right in constant hustle and bustle - the best of both worlds. They love the options of a work or play environment and the free WiFi and no hassle search for free parking. But overall we think they love our very reasonable rates for a well-sort-after stay on the West Coast of Barbados ..
