Road tripping from Bologna to the Emilia-Romagna region, solo parenting with two teenagers who have very different ideas of what great accommodation is. This place exceeded all our expectations. After a scenic drive with a couple of stops on the way, we head down a long narrow driveway hedged by greenery, cross over a tiny bridge and there is a beautiful old stone house, a big vegetable garden and a river just beyond the garden. As we open the car doors a couple of dogs come to greet us, as do our hosts Marco, Elisabetta and Mio, who are incredibly welcoming. We follow on a cobbled path surrounded by greenery with pink flowers peeping out here and there, we pass Nonna sitting outside keeping cool, who also welcomes us. Up a few stairs and into the house, which is even better than the photos, it feels like we are in a real life fairytale, the house and the setting is magical and has everything you need. We loved our stay. We stayed for 2 nights and it was great as a base to travel to San Marino, San Leo, Verucchio and Rimini, a very convenient location. Pennabilli is a cute village nearby with lovely eateries, a bakery, cafes, butcher and a frutta e verdure with beautiful fresh local produce. I would highly recommend staying here, we were all enchanted. (Sorry, had to throw that pun in).
