TIPS
>We advise you to take a day to visit the marvelous little towns around the lake. Como city is the urban center of the area, but the little towns are gems with glorious lakeside villas.
>To travel and walk around Lake Como, especially in the little towns, comfortable shoes are a must.
>There are many public drinking-water fountains in the area, and the water is safe to drink unless stated otherwise. Tap water is also drinkable. You can carry your own refillable bottle!
>If you are looking for a relatively easy hike in the area and want to enjoy mountain views anyway, Lake Como Greenway is an easy-to-follow trail that doesn't require too much walking uphill. It connects the little towns from Colonno to Griante. A bus will take you from Como to the starting point in Colonno.
>Look for traditional restaurants where you can try local foods such as Lake Como fish dishes.
>In Italy, many shops (especially the little ones) and services are closed in the middle of the day, so be careful to plan your shopping accordingly.
>Lake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the deepest in Italy. Swimming and diving are prohibited in many areas and can be dangerous. For those who wish to dwell in the water, however, there are some options. In Como city, there is an outdoor pool near Villa Olmo, but swimming in the lake is not recommended and is mostly forbidden. There are beaches in other lakeside towns. A nice little beach awaits you in Careno. Please note that it can be crowded on weekends. Locals and visitors also enjoy traveling to Nesso where the bravest swimmers can jump into the lake from the ancient Roman bridge near the waterfall.
Lido di Bellagio and pebbly San Giovanni beach will be waiting for those who wish to travel farther and explore the beautiful town of Bellagio which lies in the middle of the two Larian branches.
>Lake Como is located in a mountainous region. The surrounding pre-Alps might not seem very high, but the climate is nevertheless affected by the nearby mountains, and temperatures can change quickly. Be particularly attentive to the weather when hiking, and bring some warm and waterproof clothes with you!

Spectacular view and so close to restaurants, piazza, train and water transportation. The apartment is modern with all conveniences. Be aware of the stairs as there is no elevator, but you cannot beat the view!
Our family of four stayed here & we enjoyed this beautiful apartment. The views of Como & lake/mountains are amazing. The apartment is very clean, beautifully decorated, & the appliances were modern & easy to use. The host communicated well with us. Checking-in & out was painless. Restaurants, the lake, stores, & the train station were short walk away. The only drawback is there are many stairs but the reward of amazing views was worth it.
Wonderful views and great communication with the hosts! They even left us olive oil as a welcome gift. The steps are well-disclosed and they are indeed a workout but the views are worth it. Just know this going in and you’ll be fine. We are in our mid-50’s and we were ok and felt accomplished (and winded) at the end of the climb. The home was very clean and well-appointed and the bed is very cozy. The location is close to the ferry and the train stations, as well as the town for stores and restaurants so you can get around without a vehicle which is really nice. You will definitely enjoy this wonderful place!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Disliked: Location
The apartment itself is well-equipped and very clean, with stunning views -- you can't get much higher in Como! -- and it has ice cold air conditioning which is a bonus. Everyone agrees, though, that it is incredibly important to understand the stairs you will climb before booking, as well as the hill that leads to them.It is included in their listing, but the 156 steps to the apartment are not what you may be picturing. Some are steep, and as Italy is so beautifully aged, some of the stone has broken over the years in the middle of some of the steps so you need to walk carefully. We had mainly large travel backpacks, and we put our rolling suitcases in luggage lockers near the Como San Giovanni station knowing that we would not be able to get them up the stairs without a second trip. Please know that if anyone in your party tires easily, or has any injuries (especially knee or ankle), this may not be the best fit. It is a true climb...especially with luggage! We knew going in that the stairs would be significant, but we underestimated them when considering luggage or any groceries you may carry up...and back down.If you won't be coming and going much from the apartment, you will love the views -- both day and night!
