Would thoroughly recommend Neptune Cottage as a fantastic base to explore Northumberland.
Would thoroughly recommend Neptune Cottage as a fantastic base to explore Northumberland. It was such a treat to enjoy its cosy log burner after a day exploring and it’s beautifully furnished too. We loved that it was decked out for Christmas so we could keep the Christmas spirit going and the communication from the hosts was just perfect. We’d definitely stay again.I saw some comments about parking, which is definitely tight (narrow lane). We were fine as we have a small car, but if you had a big car or were nervous, you could easily park at the end of the road once you’d unloaded bags or shopping so it wasn’t an issue.

Neptune cottage is beautifully decorated with high quality fixtures and fittings .
Neptune cottage is beautifully decorated with high quality fixtures and fittings . The kitchen was very well equipped and a pleasure to cook in . The cottage was the right temperature for a chilly January . The smart TV was easy to use and accepted our accounts . The streets are very quiet so street parking is easy . The owners are very helpful with directions .Amble is a really good place to base yourself . Lots of walks , beaches etc . It has the main shops for the area , plus many takeaways and places to eat . I stay in 4 or 5 cottages a year and Neptune is up there with the best .

This is the nicest cottage we have stayed in.
This is the nicest cottage we have stayed in. It’s homely, spotlessly clean and has everything you need and more. Amble and its surrounding area is beautiful. We busted seven of the nearby villages while walking, the beaches are long and vast and were great for walking along collecting shells and sea glass as we went. Amble has plenty of places to eat , book ahead in holiday season. Coop , Tesco and Morrison all within easy reach for shopping. Morpeth is lovely and good for shopping, we also caught the train into Newcastle (15 mins) We would definitely stay here again and have already recommended to family. The owner of the cottage was helpful throughout, from chatting to me prior to our stay, to telling me not to worry about a broken glass to going above and beyond and posting back a cable my child left.

Most holiday lets focus on function and cleanliness and little else.
Most holiday lets focus on function and cleanliness and little else. This property is very clean, exceptionally well presented, comfortable and homely. The soft furnishing and attention to detail in every room suggest that Amanda and Nigel did not just throw stuff together to meet basic rental requirements, rather this may have been a home that was lived in and well looked after. To their credit hey did not takeout things the could be damaged or broken. It is thus very pleasing to be in and a relaxing place to hang out. The kitchen for example has not just one but several sharp good quality knives, an oven proof dish and many other utensils i have not found in other rentals. To cook in the kitchen was not stressful or frustrating. All the other admin was good.Amble is a charming town with lost of attractions around. Northumberland however is real gem. Secluded sandy and stunning beaches , outstanding vistas and great for cycling etc. So it was great to be here even though the weather was not great.Would stay here again no problem.
